Hi,

I've just been experimenting with Character Studio 4's new Move all mode, but it doesn't seem to be saved along with a Max file. When I load a BIP file into the motion mixer and reorient it with Move all, it seems to work fine, but after saving and reloading the scene, the orientation is back to the wrong one. :( I also tried simply loading a BIP file into a biped (not using any motion mixer or whatever), reorienting the biped with Move all and saving it again as a new BIP file. But when I reload the supposedly reoriented version of the BIP motion, it turns out not to be reoriented at all. It's like the Move all function doesn't put the orientation information into the keyframes, but acts as an overlapping action, not usable for reorienting specific BIP files you want to use in the Motion Mixer. I want to create a motion mix of several of the shipped BIP motions, of which some have a wrong orientation.

The one who can provide the golden tip will be my hero! :)

Thanks in advance,

M7

I was just playing with this thing today. first, I think a biped object that is the child of something else (dummy) causes problems with 'move all mode'. your biped should stand alone.

here's the trick that worked for me...

use move all to position biped
save .bip (location and time segment, data per frame)
Load .bip through mocap load dialogue (no key reduction)

...now when you click on the 'move all mode' button it should be reset to 0,0,0 // 0

if that is the case, save .bip, and fire away

this may take some testing...

Thanks man, I've waited one and a half year for this. I've got a large beard and some spiderwebs under my armpits, but it was worth the wait! ;)

But seriously, I haven't used CS for quite a while now. In the mean time I'm more into illustrating and modeling than animating.

But thanks anyway for your feedback. I might need CS again some day and on top of that there are undoubtedly a number of forum visitors that are helped by your solution.

Cheers,

Metin

Wow, talk about yanking a thread out of the closet (a year and a half old, hehe). But I'm glad you did. It helped me.
