Hey

someone asked me if it was possible to convert a video, filmed with a very good camera (so high quality video) into a vector like video.

I said this was possible, cause i've seen it done at a presantation at IBC at the adobe stand, but i almost completely forgot everything i saw there, the only thing i can remember was that he used adobe bridge but this doens't really help cause adobe bridge isn't a really artistic programme. Let me give an example of how it's supposed to look (kind of):

http://www.resfest.com/dev/image/a_scanner_darkly.jpg
http://www.aintitcool.com/image/bigasd1.jpg

The A scanner Darkly exmaples are a bit difficult to reproduce, but these images are just an example of what it's supossed to look like (direction)

Does anyone here know, how i can convert a video in a kind of vector like video file? It will probably air on television, so when i get high quality video files on a dvd or something from the makers, i need the output to be of high quality too.

I already tried the programme O2n Flix Pro or however it's called, but I don't get what i want, it's too vector like...

So if anyone here has an idea of how to pullt this thing off, i would be very, very greatfull! http://www.gamer.nl/images/content/Wekko/200304/1050064750_2.gif

Thank you very much! :)

All of those shots where rotoscoped frame by frame for that detail... not exactly easy. One way would be to export your movie as a film strip, then go into flash and convert each frame from bitmap into a vector based picture. Then export each of those frames and rebuild in a video editing program. Still not easy but alot easier than drawing each detail over each frame.

the latest illustrator has a thing called Live Trace. It converts bitmap to vector. There are different settings to experiment with. Then you batch the process. There is a tutorial out there some where...can't remember if it's on creative cow or not. It show's how to go from After effects to illustrator and back....through Adobe Bridge. That's probably what you saw.
I've never really done the whole process, but I've experimented with it.
Hope this helps.
