View Full Version : Soft Bodies On Character Riggs
Annihilatedsin 10-14-2006, 06:47 AM hi all,
ok so i been modeling for a while now and like everyone i been improbing by first failing so after a good year or so i've made alot of models but none as good as the one in my opinion as the one i made this time by using several references and hours of hard work as i'm sure you all have been by. so my problem involves rigging ok so i got a pretty desent rig its fully functional i just need to get two things done to be finish and call it a full character set. i have alot of dificulty on painting weights but i think i'm getting the hand of it only a few 10 hours of practice should make me get the hang of it but my main problem is soft bodies my character is a female and well i need to figure out how to rig the breast with soft body or any other i would prefer automated set up. a link to any good tutorial would help alot i work with maya by the way. so yeah any help would be greatly apresiated i know i am a noob and there is still much to learn so thank you all for helping me out

umm skin to the bones as you would normally and just make the bones themselves, bounce around. In max you can give an object a spring controller, that will basically lag behind a transformation. I.e if you put it on the x rotation, and then key a position, when you drag the timeslider your'll get sway happening.

thanks for helping me
I havent used maya in years, But i know its got a very solid rigid body and soft body dynamic system. These should help you out:

and on cgtalk:

i think i figured it out if i attache a spline IK onto the bones i can then make that curve dynamic and that might just work what do you think?

Go for it! :) rigging is all about trying stuff out, and thinking on your feet!
