hey all.
i finish the last tasks thanks to you'r help with booleans,lighting bump and the rest questions
i had.

now i have new things to try but i can't find it - SSS


how do i add SSS to a shader?


and another thing, what there is in XSI similar to radial array in LW and MAX?
is there good methoods to create realistic tires in XSI?


last thing, if you can take a look at this lighting practice i did, used FG only and soft point lights for the fill

hey bunny,

i'm no expert, but if you are using a newer version of xsi, open your render tree and under illumination there should be a fast sss node which you can connect to the material port of your scene material.i don't think you can connect it directly to the shader, but like i said i'm not an expert and hopefully some other experienced users can give you a more complete explanation.
the lighting looks good, but i find the spot lights a little strange.if the room is round i don't think the lighting setup would be that angular-it looks like the spot lights are in one part of the room whereas they would probably be evenly spaced out and be much more diffuse.right now it looks more like stage lighting than conference room.try using area lighting(turn on the area light option for the spots) with fairly wide cones and falloff to get more diffusion.
i don't know anything about lw or max so ican't say anyting about that.as for the tires, i'm guessing that with good texture,specular, and bump maps that you can get realistic tires or anything for that matter, but texturing isn't my strong suit and something i'm learning myself, so i'm suggesting looking for a good tutorial to get you going in the right direction.try a google search and you shoud find something.good luck

i'm using ver 4.0
there is no SSS node there like in the movie tutorial
is it in some place els?

I believe it's a new addition in version 5.x
