The concept art was Toni Diterlizzi's from his 'Spiderwick' book - . Thanks a lot to him for having given me permission to use it. The Giant and Mermaid, linked to from below (my signature) are also his 2d art in my 3d definition.
Rough textures were done in photoshop over UVlayout..and then a layer of textures were painted over the rendered image. skin SSS renderd in mental ray and others rendered in 3DS Max scanline.
