can this be done?

i want to do a batch render of a scene, can i only do it with software or hardware?
software takes far too long and hardware doesnt render enough detail.
and i can only see .avi in there which is compresses.
i would like to use a non compressed render

mental ray is good, but in the drop down i cant select multi frame extention.
and there is no video options that i can see, eg avi, mov, qt, etc

what file type do most people render to?

thanks

Render your frames to Targas (.tga) and then use somnething like after effects to render out again as you like.

perhaps there is a free app that will do this for you? Someone might know

Of course MR can render sequences. How else do you think people get entire shots rendered in it? Just set it up in your Render Globals.

thats obviously what i thought

but as you can see, i said my mental ray does not give me a multi frame option, or any known sequence extentions...

thanks KINGOMONKEY for your reply. i have been rendering out tga's and will give it a go at putting them together in aftereffects

cheers
