Hi there!

I had a bit of spare time between projects so I thought I'd model Missile Mouse - the cool creation of talented conceptual artist Jake Parker (see links for details)

Jake Parker's Site (http://www.agent44.net)
Missile Mouse Stuff (http://missilemouse.agent44.net)

He is unrigged at the moment, but hopefully he should be fighting that tentacle behind him in a dark spaceship corridor sometime the near future (work permitting!)

Any comments?

Just uploaded a 360 turn around of the model here:Missile Mouse turnaround (http://www.raymonkey.com/MM_001.avi)

And here's the unsmoothed mesh.

Just wondering whether to try and toon shade it or leave it as is. Any opinions?

Cheers,

Great work, I love it!:buttrock:

I dont agree in the ears... do a mouse ear.. very rounded.. not near like human-ear...

but the rest is awesome... very nice!

Dont toon shade it! Looks really nice as it is. You would loose so much detail.
Looks awesome, now quit your job and animate it!!!

imo: don't toon it!
The shading is really sweet as it is! like it being very soft!
I'm curious how he is going to fight the space octopusy.
great modelling btw

Thanks for the comments peeps!

Cabbe: I'll have to look properly, but off the top of my head about 10 thousand...gah...possibly a few too many!

Maximus: I am working from Jake Parker's original stuff and that's what it looks like to me in the pictures - kinda like The Brain's ears in Pinky and the Brain - I made them thinner originally but they looked wrong somehow.

Wiemer, Goon :Thanx...yeah, the more I look at it the more I think it wouldn't be worth toon shading it. It also will fit more with the idea I've got for an environment.

Joebount: Erk! You'd be lucky at the moment...I wish I had 6 hours to myself :) But it will come...I've got another project I promised I'd get done to put off first :)

Bernard: Cheers..err.. dog boy :)

AcidBoyXl: Ta! Its not really my mouse - I have to give full credit to Jake Parker for coming up with it originally! And more will be coming.

Nibo: Thanks! Don't know whether the final version will have this kind of soft lighting - probably not as its going to be set in a spaceship...but I don't know. I'll post some tests as soon as I can.

Just stuck together a very basic mood test for the environment. Corridor walls aren't resolved fully, but I'm trying to get a feeling for what's going to look good.

I think some pipes and conduits are needed. But then I'm not sure whether to get too complicated as it might look odd with the simple shading on the characters...well the character and tentacles...

Should have some more stuff after the weekend.

Here's some more resolved environment work.

The wall panels are designed to tile and be repeated, but I haven't arranged them all yet.

No roof yet, and not all the pipework I want is in, but its moving along.

Any comments? I am thinking about leaving it untextured and giving it colour through the lighting...mainly because I don't want to unwrap all that stuff...bleugh!

Heh! Having a bit of onesided conversation with myself at the moment, but hey...its keeping me busy!

Here is a new environment image,

http://www.raymonkey.com/ceri/bgtest_005.jpg

A little bit contrasty for my liking...but getting there.

And click here:

Clip (630K) (http://www.raymonkey.com/ceri/bg_test.avi)

for a Div-x clip of a pointless camera pull out - although its really showing off the lighting scheme. I have removed the walkway for now cos I might put something else in rather than the grid I've got going on.

Right, any comments? Likes/Dislikes? Should I add more detail...what do you think?

nice,

You picked a great character to model. I think it looks just like him. All you need now is to pose him and let the laser blasts fly

then when you got time animate him fighting the tentacles...

Thanks Sketchyjay! Laser blasts should start flying next week (my colleague is going to animate him).

Just tweaked the environment again..

Same link as before. Smoke, more pipes and the walkway have been put in....soon Missile Mouse will get put in...honest.

I have got lots more to work on including some destructible scenery.

That's cool! Have you posted this stuff on shane glines board yet? Jake hangs out there from time to time. I think he'd love it.

Blimey, haven't updated here for a bit - been a bit busy with real stuff.

Anyhow, got a test animation of Missile Mouse working out on his Spikotron-2000 here:

Run Test (http://www.raymonkey.com/ceri/mm_runtest.avi)

Just having a look at his motion and ironing out any bugs.

My estimate of getting him into the environment was a little eager I feel - so I'm not going to make that mistake again...so expect another update in a couple of weeks...maybe :)

Anyway, as always all comments gratfeully received!

Geez that character is popular but you were the fastest I guess.

I also started modeling him but he looks more like this Fan Art. (http://missilemouse.agent44.net/artwork/missilemouse_digitaldecoy.jpg)

Hmmm.. just lost all interest in modeling him now. You're modeling is good, you have a BG and now some anim. :hmm:

Does Mr.Parker know? He'd be flattered to see that! :)

Sorry guys, didn't realize there was a queue :p

Heh, thanks for the comments!

Baby: Oops! Another enemy to add to my list :D (Glad you like him though!)

Nazgul: Yes, I told Jake I was modelling him and he thought it looked good - I'm looking forward to getting it all done and showing him the result. Hey, don't give up on your stuff though - there room for more than one version!

Well, as I say, I'll try and be back soon with more stuff...

Yo Raymonkey! :surprised

what's up? Did you have any time to play with MM lately? Am eager to see it all coming together!
BTW, what software do you use?
