Hello, Im just getting into compositing my shots now so I don't even know the proper terms for things so I've opted for a picture.

How do I composite the Blue Object and the Red Object SEPERATELY and still get the right occlusion. Mind you I don't need full objects, I still only want to seewhat I've got on screen I don't need to render the entire object. ONLY what needs to be seen.I simply cannot find a way to do this. Thanks to anyone who can help me sort out and explain this concept.

I have done this before by putting both objects in one layer then turning off the Primary Visibility (under render stats) for the object you don't want to show on that layer (eg the cynlinder).

Then on the other layer, put both objects in and give one (the object holding the cylinder) a shader with a Black Hole Matt, it should still occlude the cylinder.

just create a mask for one of the objects. black surface shader. render. use as alpha in animation. done.
