hi everyone...
well this cathedral scene as i call it is lighted by me in 3ds max, model and textured by
mr mistel. The problem is i m not be able to satisfy myself for the balance of light in the image.

i used 56 omnis and 4 spotlights in the scene i have tried to show afternoon in the scene at around 1 p.m. well the confusion is whether the light on the left wall is accurate or matched with the light of right wall..is this balance or i have to make it darker or lighter i dont know..
as i have tried to study few photographs of daylight but still in a fix plz help..:buttrock:

some extra info about the scene may help:)

rendered with default scanline render (NO GI).
the scene consist of 56 omnis and 4 spotlights.
this 800*480 image took 27 sec to render on a dual xeon
3.4 ghz with 2gb of ram.
a little bit of post work done in photoshop like color correction and add film grains.
plz some critics as i m new in lighitng work..
thanx:bounce:

Hi there,

Nice lighting work! I think however considering the angle of the shadow being cast, it feels to me more like around the middle of the day. Perhaps if you want an afternoon feel you could change the colour of the lights and the angle? Just a suggestion.

For this render, I think the darker wall should be a little bit brighter, but that's about it. I like it. Nice job.

Cheers :D

Looks good!

Maybe it could use a little more warm bounce light aimed upwards.

On the right, a little warm fill light could help soften some of the high-contrast dark features that protrude into the sunbeam.

On the left, there might already be enough bounce light, but the bounce light appears blue, even along the bottom of the arches, when I'd expect the bounce from below to be warmer or more neutral, since it isn't coming from the sky...

thanx jeremy sir!

nice to hear critics from u sir . yes u r right. when i view the image on the left wall the color is quite blue as i think its due to the sky omnis i placed near the left wall for the sky light.
i will work on the image and place some fill warm omnis on the left wall wall and few bounce
warm color omnis near and under the right wall.
As this exercise i was doing to improve some daylight skills.
i did try to work on your kitchen lighting challenge but i was very unhappy my results as i was trying to create some GI effect with omnis only as i usually avoid to work with are lights as
i believe(not know) most people dont use in their animation pipeline. i try to produce light
with shadow map only lights but lot of time it happens that my objects seems to be floating
when i blur the shadows even after zeroin g the bias value.
i have read few books of lighting and obviously yours tooo to learn few tips but still at times i
get in a problem with shadows part.
as i m not totally into lighting but mainly in commercial animation but enjoy lighing a lot
and try to do as much as i can in my free time.
i have attached 2 files if u would like to have a look and give some critics as i m usually
get this shadow banding problem with shadow maps.
thanx again...
