My Plan is to Show Axis City inside of "The Way" with an open Gate
and Gate traffic. I made this sketch last weekend while rereading the book
again ( I have read this series several times before and loved it)

3D previs of Axis City concept showing Axis Nader and two Cube
shaped power/propulsion modules, with THE WAY and an open
commercial GATE, and gate traffic below.
Done in 3ds Max with primitives. Tall cubes are Huge skyscrapers(?),
City holds billions of people, some buildings float from tethers, some are
upsidedown. After all, these people can do anything architecturally that
they want to. They can control gravity, inertia, and atmosphere, all with
technology that appears magical.
The book describes thousands of lights on Axis Nader, and thousands
of vehicles in motion around the open gate, that sounds like a particle-fest
to me. But first lets start on some buildings and domes and machinery
and parkland and transport vehicles .....

very interesting start. looks great so far
.
I'm excited to see where this goes, Scotti - this is pretty much exactly how I imagined Axis City and how it functioned - superb work.

Thanks Everyone, I hope I am not biting off more than I can chew! If I persue this idea
then my modeling challenge will be to model, texture and light a massive city. That is what the challenge instructions say, "a great model". I will try to place it in as interesting environment
as possible (the way), but I think that I should focus on a cityscape model, replete with all sorts of futuristic stuff.
So I googled some things to get some reference photos, and I found some great pics of
some skyscrapers in Shanghai, since a lot of the residents of Axis City are of chinese descent I will use modern chinese skyscrapers as my jumping off point. A great website for skyscraper photos can be found here;

Hello Scotti, I felt the desire to work on Axis City... but I'm still a little bit confused with all it's detailed description, but looking at your work, I start to understand it quiet better... that is very interesting... looking forward for more.
