Hi,

I know my question is too relative, but I have a city scene where I put a lot of box polygons and put color, bump, reflection and specularity maps with 1024, 2048 and 4096 px. The camera will move along the street and show some advertisements. The illumination will be the sun. I don't need nothing too realistic or fancy, only some reflections, the shadows could be shadow maps. The most important is show this advertisements full readable.

I ask for the client when he will need this video and they answer:
- Yesterday...

So I have 2 days for render 2134 frames, my computer is very bad (P4 3.0 Ghz HT, 1.5 Gb RAM). I need render a frame in 1 minute. My question is:

- Wich render may I use for the best quality using less time (Renderman, Maya Software or Mental Ray)?

- What tricks can I use to improve a medium quality scene and decrease the time render? (Ex. Ray tracing or shadow maps, kind of light (area light, point light, spot light, direct light) hdri, shading, etc.)

- How can I make the advertisements sharpen enough without a big antialising number?

Thanks a lot,
carlos

i don't know about your project but...
if you have a very very short dead line, think about harware render, not great but fast (good antialiasing and acceptable motion blur). it could save your life, sometime ...:)

Hi, courte_manche,

Thanks for your tip! Will be very helpful, because I always have this very short deadlines. I always try too send a full render (4 minutes by frame) to the client for compare with a preview quality, but the client doesnt care with quality in the most of times.
