Hi Everybody,

I'm a noob in this forum and in the animation scene. Doing a dip in CG and intending to be an animator. This is my first time doing a whole acting sequence. Would appreciate some comments and critique.

A simple "You suck" would be a lot better than the silence. :) Please?

I like the mouth shaking when the character is unsure and nervous. Though I feel like everything he picks up there is no weight or resistance. Your thoughts?

Hi Barlim,

Nice work for a first piece. Can I give you a suggestion that's meaningless to this particular excersize? Do something shorter. Take a look at The Animator's Survival Kit and do a smaller excersize. You've got some great ideas, and some great poses in here, but you're biting off a LOT for a first timer. My suggestion is to forget the story for now. Work on something like a lift, or a push, or a pull. Something that will excersize your ability to show weight. Maybe even something as simple as a jump or walk.

I don't say any of this to discourage you. I think you're off to a great start on this excersize, but I've learned from experience that it causes a lot of problems to bite off too much without first covering the basics.

Again, please don't be discouraged, and if you continue on with this piece, I really think it's off to a good start. All I can tell you is what I myself have learned thru unfortunate circumstances.

Best of luck!

Travis

I think its really good. The character im rigging now looks a bit like yours but wiht out the eyes and brows. You goign to have any grunts or sighs vocally?

Wow, really encouraged by all the sudden posts. :)

Thanks for the advice travis. I actually realised i took a bite more than i could chew when i was halfway into this. But I just couldn't stop myself and decided to finish anyway. I actually did a walk cycle before this for practise. Don't worry, I'm not discouraged at all. Really appreciate the advice, would be looking into doing a simpler action next.

Hi Anikat84, actually the rig wasn't done by me. Its a lowmax rig available online. :D
And I don't intend to put any sound into it, gonna keep it silent.

Thanks again for both your comments and critiques. Much appreciated. :)
