Sup slav! Good luck buddy!
hey guys thanks for the warm welcome! i wish you both luck like usual.
as for what i am going to do ... i found this "Gate Traffic & the Axis City" most appleaing to me... so there you go. that's what ill be focusing on. ill up load some sketches that ill draw up later tonight or on the bus tomorrow.
http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/14/12137/12137_1162075585_medium.jpg (http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/entries/14/12137/12137_1162075585_large.jpg)
i had an idea brewing for a few weeks. trying to juggle univ and this and work i finally created something tangible. i hope you guys enjoy.

It's a great sketch. So far the biggest problem is that everything is forced out of the lower right of your image. Perhaps if you put in some 'traffic' comeing IN there you could turn that energy around.

the mood of the image can easily be determined by the sky with in it... i am not quite sure if there will be a sky but i am just playing around with color... which will give the image ambiance and over pallet.

i took the old concepts and hopefully pushed it one step further. i am not quite sure what the circle things are but i felt like i needed a super structure i am reading the descriptions and i am going to add some of the stuff in next update. hope you all like it so far. sLav.

Thats a very interesting concept Slav. I like it much better then your previous darker one. The criters are a nice addition also. They bring life into the rock, which is something that a lot of other entries lack. Best of luck and can't wait to see the final product.

Hi slav,
First of all thanks for replying on my thread..
Now back to your work, I already like these latest concept you made, maybe you can consider the two spheres to be your super structures? However, I feel the near right sphere lacks some hugeness! It might be because of the critters , they make the sphere appear small..you could move the monkey-like critters on the left anyhow its still empty and enlarge the right sphere 2 or 3 times:)..(just my opinion)..peace!

I like the spheres and root work. It is making for a very nice composition. It feels a bit like some compositions I've seen from Michael Whelan. Can't set my finger on the one in particular I'm thinking of though.

Looking great, Slav! Love lots of the elements: the lush landscape, the gorgeous clouds, the design of the cities. Like the sketches you did above of all the people too, and I look forward to seeing them renderred in as well.
One comment I'd make is the color of the cities. Right now they're a pretty pure white. But we can tell from the light on the clouds that there should be some warm light coming in from the left. Maybe the buildings would thus be a bit more warmer-colored? I'm sure you're still working on them, so you've probably already got it in mind.
Anyhow, good luck with it!
-mike
