View Full Version : Environment: Mountain City
gL_spear 02-03-2003, 06:34 PM Here's something thing I started just after 'Meteor'(check out my site), It took 24hrs to render, with some photoshop work
on the waterfall and trees due to the slowness of the render I hand painted the water which gave it a painted look
anyway which i was hoping to achieve.

cool...i like the mood. very nice structure.
just that the sky dont seem to fit the pics lighting.as if its a sunset
but the bldgs are lit from the opposite direction and a bit bright for a sky like that. otherwise
it's a great piece! The modeling and textures look perfect.
one crit
the overall shot, though, looks like a white spot light is shining on it. But the sky is dawn/dusk... may want to tweek the light to add some blue shadows and red/yellowy light?
thanks for sharing,

It's Rivendell on a plateua! Looks great! And 24 hours of render time eh?! That's utterly nuts, it doesn't LOOK that complex (edit: to require 24 hours, heh), but it is very detailed and there is quite a bit of trees there so I can only imagine. This work is very cool, nice job.
Oh, and if you added some depth of field this would look almost perfect. I think you should try a render with DoF if you find the time.

Looks good, although I think you could have smoothed out the background image. It's kinda revealing that it was a low quality JPG.

Yeah, the sky just doesn't really match. It looks like a cut-and-paste job. The model looks fantastic. But why did it take so long to render?

look at the roof of the building on the far left. it's casting its shadow back. yet the sun is setting behind the building.
otherwise an amazing picture.

The left stair case's perspective looks skewed? you may want to check that.

Yeah good job so far, I think once you fix the lighting a bit, add some atmospheric desaturation in the background (the mountains really need it), and a bit of blur back there too it will be a great image!
keep it up!
