I have finally finished my tornado project. Had to stop some time right? :)
The quicktime is available for download here
I've written a bunch of stuff about it on my weblog here

Wow very nice job! I agree with what you wrote in your blog, a more intimidating camera angle would've worked well.

very well done phil...
I think something else that would increase the realism would be to show a bit more destruction of the barn before the vortex actually makes contact - I see roof tiles flying off - but how bout having a bit of barn movement/shaking/turbulence from the violent mass of air that surrounds the tornado.
I think the shader looks beautiful - and that background plate of the clouds - blends very well. the subtle movement of the scud cloud at the top of the funnel is also nice touch... I'd sure like to see some more info on the actual construction of this shot...

agreed - this looks great.
the movement of the tornado is well done, and it fits really nicely with the backgound plate ( the mood of the whole piece is not as dark as i would expect, but feels eery for some reason ).
i would like to have seen a bit more happen though. The barn is just begging to get ripped apart and just when you think its about to happen the video ends, which was kind of a letdown for me... but apart from that it looks great.
