I am trying to figure this out, hope you can help me.
I have an irregular shape and I want to place an image map just at the front of it. The problem is that the image goes all the way across and I can see it at the back too (not what I want).
I restrict the Z size, but it still goes across.
This image map is the second layer, so creating a different surface would make my procedural below it not match (unless of course I am aproaching this in a very wrong way)

ya Killme is right, there of course is many ways to get your texture where you want it, but an easy way would be to select the faces you want the texture on, and hit "Q" and name it something new like Front.. dunno hehe. Then you will have 2 surfaces in your TextureEditor .. Probably Default and Front. You can make many of these hehe. Now you might run into a new problem, which wuld be making the edges line up nice.. there was a post earlier about just that problem, but to avoid wasting time, go buy Dan Alban's Lightwave 7 Book and around page 500 or so there is a textureing tut. I went from knowing not a damn thing about textureing in LW to being able to Texture just great! (of course not the 1st time i textured, i just had to find all the buttons and how LW works) But very nice tut and you will learn how to make diff surfaces but have em blend just perfect etc. Alpha's.. la la la..

8) Good Luck!
