View Full Version : Bones add a TON to file size in v8!
Lord, a 6MB model and I add my v8 rig and now it's 23MB!!
And when I render it sucks ALL my RAM. I don't remember it being this big of a RAM hog in 7.3.

??? not too sure what your doing wrong but all the rigs I have seen are still really small in size, are you sure its the bones. They will use more Ram, but even more noticable more CPU. Thats for the SIK which has some dynamics and is always redrawing.
The mime is only around 1.3 MB
Hi,
don't forget that weighttags and/or Claude Bonet weighting will take a lot of memory. The more bones you got the more information has to bestored. I guess you are using a high poly model so the amount of weighting information alone would add tremendously.

Another thing that can add to the filesize is Pose Mixer. Not the Pose Mixer object itself but all the morph targets that you create, specially morphing bone hierarchies.

yeah, it's all Claude Bonet'ed (can I say that?) and it's a pretty heavy character, lotsa good detail.
