Hey all,

This is what I have been working on the past few weeks for school. It's a pack animal of sorts. I modeled, textured, rigged and animated the pack animal. Rigged and animated the man in the animations.

Would love to hear what you think.

I like it .. there are a few things, though.
The arms doesn't seem like they're in a natural position (does that make sense?), they should hang a bit more or something.
Also, I think that the tail should be longer to even out the weight.
Maybe the movements seems a bit stiff? Dunno.
Other than that .. it's great! What did you build it in? Do you have some concept art?

Cool bananas,
Moo

YESSS!! very frickin awesome! Even the Camera work is quite dramatic in the animation. The motion is superb also. I must say, however, that the arms of the pack animal sway too much in unison (The twins) I think that part of the animation needs retouching. Overall, SUPOIB!

Very good modeling!
The animation of the creature needs a little work, it is a bit too static. Awesome modeling ;)
Keep it up

it looks like it is done in maya....

really cool concept and clean modeling (maybe add some details(?))

animations tests are really convincing...

The animation looks great, though the skin looks too flat.

Love the model; love the concept, my only critique would be on the walk. I think what's making him look a little stiff it that the foot impact and the cushion happen at the same time. Have his foot hit then 3 or 4 frames later have his body sink. I think that might loosen him up a bit.

Nice work. The one thing that was bugging me a little about the animation is the weight of the animals load. From the animation he appears to be struggling a bit under a very heavy load, but when you look at the pack it seems fairly small and light for an animal that size (maybe it's filled with rocks? or gold??). It also seems like the weight should be up on the shoulders a bit more due to the movement of the upper body. You may want to throw some more stuff up on his back to balance it all out.

Hey all,

Thanks for all the feedback, lots of good points to take into account for the next one. Modeled and animated in maya, rendered with prman. Photoshop and deeppaint (to deal with UV seams) for the textures.

FG mental ray render for fun:

suggestion:

pump that cool leathery skin texture into a displacement map for the skin - lord of the rings cave troll style. Just for fun - and see what happens.

Nice model, and excellent texturized job....
I like the details and the style.
The animation needs more realitic movements but i see you know what you do....
i really like this... freak !!

Allright!
First: Killer model, killer textures and killer animation.(that means it´s more than exelent stuff. :)
Second: I have some humble sugestions.
1) The skin (as said before me) needs deeper texture.
2) I would use some sort of cusions or something to make the sticks from the rack a bit more softer. It looks very uncomftable and it looks like it can glide of at any second. some sort of harness would solve both of these problems (if you consider them problems).
3) The walk cycle is good but needs a slight re-timing on the weight distrebution. As it is now, the animal surges uppward and to the side very symetrical and rythmic. I would delay the side motion a tad, to the moment he puts the foot down on the ground, then the weight can support him WITHOUT destroying his knees after one days work. It would look smother too, i think. I would not want to ride this beast though!
Try and walk like the beast yourself and you will find that the knees take alot more punishment than if you would wait until the foot are on the ground.
The only reason I think I know this is the fact that I practice Kung-Fu three times a week and have some insight in the workings of balance so I culd be wrong about this.
One last thing. Smaller pictures would be nice. If you want to show detail make a separate picture.:)
Best!
/Henrik
