Wow dave both Images look amazing. But thats not m,uch help is it... just a couple minor things that you might improve
- a transperancy map could be used on the cape to simulate tattering and get rid of the cg like crips end
- his hand could be put in a better pose (it sorta looks like hes fingering someone now) and although the fingures loko much better scalewise now perhapse you could also increase the size of his hand?
- I love the second image alot but I think that adding more age to the metal would take it to the next level ex. some black oxidation or if you want it to look as clean as it dose still then just dirty up the spec map ( you got one in there right :P)
Wow I can't get over the Cloth youv'e got it down pat Especially his sleeves
oh well back to playing the air guitar :airguitar

Great work! Nice attention to detail I really like the textures and spec maps used on the chest plate andshoulder armour. The first pose is a bit confusing, but great work overall.:bounce: :applause:

i have posted a clearer photo.. in regards to the hand.. and with a black background.. Zastrozzi: thanks for the suggestions.. i will give them a try. Kamul: its 124 191 triangles. Supernova: the metal is just a phong with careful use of bump and spec in relation with the color map.. its important to have a colored spec the same color as the metal. I will post a shot of his head soon.
Good Guy

now THATS amazin! Great work man
Only crit i can give is that you should render him in a scene... but im only sayin that cuz i wanna see more of this amazin model!
Specially like the armour/shoulder things :P

Wow love how the black BG compliments your character it looks like he is hidden makes him more mysterious/evil. also liek this camera angle much more. though you might still want to work on the hand his hand looks rather narled perhapse instead of showing the back of the hand tilt the palm towards the camera?
just thought getting quite picky really

Dave, like i said before, one of the best models i've ever seen. amazing work. you've got a bright future as a modeler/texture artist. lets see some renders of him in a set, and an animation!!! wooo hooo!!! animation!!! show off some of your animation skills bro.

Just a quick comment: lower the specularity on his face just a little, 'cause you don't want a beautiful model like this one to look doll like.
It's really fantastic though, gotta say well done. As for his fingers, I like them, they are in a very dramatic pose and it looks as if he is about to in fact summon something, (like a little orb or fireball or something) it also looks like a kind of victory stance....
Anyway, great work, keep it up!
Jimzip :D
Edit: On second look, maybe the fingers are a little curly...;)

hey, this character is really cool. I am totally envious of the texture work so far too. I did a little crit of the head, and really the big problems are the nose and lips. The eye ball itself looks kinda odd, maybe it's not round enough? Find any photo to work from and the nose should be a snap.
Here is the crit:

Wow...looking great! I noticed the fingers on the right hand (his right) .. Aren't they a bit thin? Could we get a closeup on that area with the first pose there?

more of a suggestion than a crit.... but i think it would look nice if he had darker circles around his eyes, something similar to the makeup of grima wormtongue from the two towers. That would give him an even more eerie warlock feel.

The right hand needs a bit of work, bring the pinky in a little.
Here, this should give you a better idea of the underlying structure. It's from a google search.

Looking good though. Are the thin fingers a characteristic of summoners? If not, you should also consider beefing them up a bit. It looks a bit deformed here.

I have updated the picture on page one.. i hope this clears up the confusion in regards to the hand.. i had a ring on his finger and where the shadows fell made it confusing to see what was going on.

I still think the fingers look a bit thin, maybe it's the deformation when you curl 'em. I think the pinky stands out. Is it just me?

Wow, looks great, :) it should have a wolf or something besides him (an evil one, with glowing red eyes ;)
little question , how did you do the robe/cape? :) trying to make it too, dont know how though :'(
davids
02-09-2003, 04:52 AM
Trommeldaris: All I did to make the cloth is I hung my trenchcoat and my fleece/nylon over a chair to get the wrinkles and modeled from that. I used my trenchcoat for bigger longer wrinkles.. and the ones that intersect the ground the fleece/nylon coat was used for the smaller wrinkles. for textures i just found the material i wanted it to look like and started painting. all textures on him are hand painted. Just to set the record straight the hands are supposed to be deformed and bent up and bony looking.. i used Burne Hogarth's dynamic hands as reference for that.
More comments pls!
