Hi Alp,
your pictures are just great! Would be interesting to hear more about techniques used, brushes, papers etc.

I don't have any experience with dual monitors, but for me it's hard to understand, how that combined screen proportion can be used when painting with a tablet, unless you don't define the area, even with wacom wide, very elongated.

You could always use a dual monitor setup. Before the upgrade, all you palettes had to be within the Painter workspace. You set the Painter window to it's intermediate size on the window size control buttons, and you can drag the workspace across the two monitors. Again, all the palettes had to be within the workspace.

With the upgrade, you can maximize Painter, and drag your palettes to the second monitor outside of the Painter workspace leaving your main window for the artwork. This is the same way Photoshop and Illustrator work.

As far as setting up the Wacom, it pretty much set's itself up. I have no problem working with it. It's pretty intuitive.

Which update are you referring to? Has there been another update since IX.5?

Just the IX.5 upgrade. As I understand it, the original Painter IX didn't have the ability to have the palettes seperated from the workspace.

There were two upgrades following the original release, which is were I'm getting the word upgrade from. More recent releases of the program have these already built in. I bought Painter right at the original release. Sorry for the confusion.

Just to clarify, IX.5 is the upgrade from Painter IX.

Thanks Tom. Part of the confusion is on my end, because IX.5 is where I came in back in April(?). So to me, IX.5 was my first Painter. I anxiously thought that there might have been another upgrade since then.

No worries.

Laurindo>> I have been creating many custom brushes, such as blenders, oils, encils ect. I will be talking about these techniques and sharing some info on a new website I created last week SPEEDPAINTINGS.COM (http://www.speedpaintings.com/forum/index.php)

This site is all about sketching digitally, including Painter IX pencils ect. Here is another one I did using Painter IX with custom brushes that took me some struggle and time to create until they all felt right

Alp,

There were several other bug fixes in the upgrade, I don't recall what they were now, but I would definatly do it.

Hi guys,

Corel refers to Painter IX 9.1 and Painter IX.5 as Updates (meaning patches) rather than Upgrades.

The latter term (Upgrade) Corel uses to describe upgrading from one previously purchased Painter version to a more recent Painter version. For instance, if we own the license to use Painter 8, we're eligible for Upgrade pricing to Painter IX.5.

To avoid confusion, we really need terms that don't sound so much alike!

Cheers!
