CGTalk - rendering problem

I am rendering in mental ray but it is not rendering the back of objects. It is also not showing the back of object in the viewport before I render. I imagine it is a simple option I have changed somewher but cannot find it. Any help is appreciated.

could you post a screenshot ? is it maybe about backface culling ?
