CGTalk - A Day to Night Try

Good day.
I'm currently new to mattepainting (compositing artist, mostly).
I gave a try with a photo ref from old contest at mattepainting.org. I tried to achive some fairy mood converting day photo into the night one. I know that not much work has been done, but i'd appreciate any advice on overall matte improvement.

Afftor (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=76270) vbmenu_register("postmenu_3912425", true); welcome to this forums and welcome to this matte painting techniques, is good that you already have that compositing experience but I think you need to see some points before start doing a matte painting.
first of all, everything is about color and light
the mood you have choosen is not photorealistic it looks fantasy style, first because the stars does not look like that inside the earth, the big light in the stars coming from the right should affect the castle itself, and the castle light direction is totally different from the main light source and so the shadows
