ok , here goes...
it's not too late to start my thread. i still have about a month and really love this challenge.
This is my first challenge i participate in and i hope i'll do it right.

I'm going to use 3ds max 5 for this challenge. i've been using Maya lately but i need to get back to Max so this will be my excersize using and learning the new tools (which seem to be really awsom).

ok ... to the challenge.
umm... i sketched a little something with my tablet today and this is what came out... it's not final so there may be changes to the his body construction and stuff.

i didn't come up with the all the details about my creature by this is what i can tell about him:

his race is called "York". the Yorks are half of a human's size. But believe me... you don't wanna run into them. they eat mostly garbage and they scare like a little helpless cat. They freeze like a stone, with there eyes wide open and instictavly shot a ball of fire from there mouth. They don't think twice and don't miss even once! What the hell... now they have fried food for the night.

hi mate,
this character is cool. :buttrock: i think he probably has my favourite head in the whole competition.... he looks like a cross between something that would be in an odworld game and a golum-gone-superevil-esque creature. (this is a good thing! i like it very very much). dont be dishartened by the lack of coments so far: ive only had one(!) person comment on my work!!!
keep up the good work mate. i for one am very excited as to how this one turns out!

Aren't the arms growing from the wrong place ;)? I mean arms are usually above the ribcage, not under it...:surprised I know it's probably intentional, but why?

CgEye
02-05-2003, 01:50 AM
Yup, it is intentional... i'm kinda sick of everybody using the human body for creatures. A middle earth race is a call for going wild and creating wakky stuff. So this is my way way of being Wakky :D

i started with the texturing, here's an update

dur23

really well modeled and concepted but it freaks me right out....those arms resting below the ribcage like thats is just freaky...

But thats a good thing, cause he's not supposed to be cute and cuddly:)

CgEye
02-05-2003, 02:29 AM
ha ha , thanx dur23. yeah, it's suuposed to be freaky and intence.
Bt the way, i really love your thread. great modelling and texuring!! it's an honor for me to recieve your compliments

take care

Thanx fetus23. this is the 4th day and i'm really surprised that it's going so fast. but it great, 'cause it will give me a lot of time for tweeking and setting a background for the character.

Here's another update, still no hands. i just couldn't wait to see this guy with textures :)

ok, here's another one:

Stygian

It looks really good and I like the Non-standard antomy that your going for . My only crit would be the visible muscle structure on the back and chest . 1. with his arms that low he wouldn't really have those pectorals on the chest and there seems to be a lack of muscle structure on the back to support those lower arms. I know I'm throwing science in with the fantasy but I wanted to say that I liked it and hate posting without some sort of Crit .

thanx for the anatomy tip Stygian, u have a good point there.

here's a concept i'm working on, it will be a "wild life at night" photo.

H ha !! That looks great!! He really jumps out at you! love the saterated colors - only crit would be slght lack of detail arround the mouth ( no not the teeth - they're rediculous!!)

great pose!

Nice work! Very good model and nice textures! My suggestion is that the lights need a little adjustment. Catch you later mate!

l_farley13_l , about the nouth area, there's more to come there so stay tuned :)

Satyricon , thanx, i'm too satisfied with light either. i'll get that fixed...
