cool Matrix text effect

The only decent Matrix tut for AE that i have found was on CreativeCow.com
Even then. It was not that impressive at all.

I too would not mind some input from someone who might know a good place to find a good tut on this effect.

Since search isnt working i wasnt able to find any answer on this, and i kinda need a solution in a rush. does any one know a good tutorial or an idea on how to get that cool martrix text effect. thank you. oh any btw im on AE 7 and dont really how the money to shell out for plugins just wanna know if theres an other way.

Digital Anarchy's Matrix Text would exactly do what you want, but since you don't have the money, I guess it's out of the question. Particle systems like Particular or particleIllusion would be able to achieve similar results. Perhaps you can try something with text animators on vertical text. Use animators for character value (to get random letters) along with opacity, scale and fill color (for the trail effect). Use a position animator to move them on the Y axis. With one layer as a template, you should be able to clone it easily and by varying a few parameters it would pretty much give a good illusion of "Matrx Rain".
