i have been trying to follow everything on this list for a while but havent found ne tricks, tips or tutorials abt painting textures. there has been a lot going on abt uv's but nothing related to how to paint textures in ur painting prog. just starting off, i'm trying to paint a texture for a finger model in photoshop 7. i always seem to be stuck with which tools to use. none of them seem to give the soft edges that i want. check out the parts of the face texture the pic shows. i think those parts are the most difficult. i think its next to impossible to paint with the mouse. what do u do in such situations. secondly how long wud a pro take to paint textures on a finger.

thanx in advance

Complicated subject, but one issue that stands out is that you should use a graphics tablet instead of the mouse. Painting with a mouse is like drawing with a potato.

Also, get to know your painting program very well. Photoshop 7 has some good controls in the Brush Settings, for controlling softness and other dynamics.
