View Full Version : Artweaver painting WIP
jantim 10-05-2006, 05:51 PM I pretty new to painting in naturel media style software like Artweaver, so i would like to get some feedback..one of the problems i'm having is deciding when a painting is "finished" i like the rough and sketchy look of this image, but what do you guy's - and gall's"- think of it !!

I happen to love the sketch feel to this stage too, there's a lot of life and movement in it. You could, if you were so inclined, bring it to a fine, smooth finish, and still keep this one, and end up with two versions if you wanted to. But this could be called done at this stage and still be wonderful!! :)

Well,..Ferguson..i'm very happy you like it, there were not many, i mean NO reactions to my sketch so far.
I was even thinking that i must have been drunken & deluded thinking anyone, besides me, saw something positive in it !
But every time i looked at it i kept thinking : " i like it !" ,... i stop ranting now ; )
I'm very new to painting, done more in 3D, so its an upwards strugglle for me, not only exploring the software i'm using, but everything concerned with painting, tonal values, point of focus etc.
Trying to get a more smooth look often results in a less atractive picture, perhaps if i get better in painting i can do that..for now i'm doing a lot of diff'rent paintings to get a good foundation, there's an awfull lot to learn in 2D !
