Hi there!
My first image I post to the gallery, that's pretty startling... :hmm:

First of all I want to mention, that I struggled a bit where to post
this image. Actually the stuff I made this render of, is still WIP,
but the image I created is finished, therefore I don't intend to
post any more updates of this still. I'm going to do some
animations if I find the time besides study ;)

I'd appreciate any (fair) comments and (constructive) critcs
Maybe some of you have cool ideas for a better, more realistic
look.

Now some info on the subject. The environment is a blood vessel.
Let's say it is a human's blood vessel with a few blood cells
(many thanks to Adrian Thompson for his blood cell
tutorial :wavey: ) and some particle stuff swimming in the fluid. In
focus is a so called medical nano robot with a drill. This
creature is supposed to eliminate blockages.

The objects are modeled and rendered with Lightwave 3D 7.5 at
a resolution of 1280x1024 (anti alias set to high, adaptive
sampling turned on). This took about half an hour (Pentium IV 2,1
GHz, 512 MB RAM). After that I added depth of field in After
Effects 5.5 Pro Bundle and made some touch-ups with an image
app, because due to DOF-post-processing with AE the bright
particles tend to cause ugly, blocky artifacts (meh... :annoyed: )...

Here is the image. It is referenced to my webspace and I hope
that your views won't eat up the traffic limit. If so, I'll post a
reduced version of it as an attachement.

huhu tommi ! :wavey:

i would change the surface of the blood cells to a more rougher one and you should make your nano robot less transparent.

i really like your nano robot :buttrock: .. great work !

Aaaaah many thanks so far!

McSpirit: Glad you like it!

SomeGuy: YES they are EVERYWHERE Mwahahahahaha :buttrock:

Acidrain: thanks for your suggestions. I'll give it a try. The difficulty is related to aesthetical taste and realism and I need to find a third way between both of them. I looked up many microscope images of blood cells and they don't seem to be that bumpy. The transparency of the robot :hmm: ... well, I intend to add some stuff into its interior... Mhm... but I think you're right... I need to reduce transparency a bit...

Thank you! :wavey:

Mhm well, I figured out some issues on my own. I think I'll rerender it and update the image. I just need to increase the robot's subpatch level and the dof filter of After Effects doesn't work that properly as you can see when you look at the robot's transparent arms. The background should be blurred, but it is sharp.... sigh

Hi Tommi!
Looks nice so far! I've some suggestions:
as said, I'd make the Robot less transparent and add some interior to it. That would make the picture really special!
The background looks good. I don't think it needs changing. Something else is disturbing me: the robot looks somehow "streched" as if there was a perspective disortion; especially the lower left leg looks more oval than round (maybe it's supposed to look that way, or I've some troubles with my eyes  , I don't know...)

But nice image anyway! :applause:

Hi XerC!

I will go on modelling this robot. And your eyes don't trick you - it is modeled that way (somehow stretched/distorted) - that happened by accident while beveling the arms and I thought it would look okay the way it is...
I believe some animations would be more interesting, but currently I'm doing something completely different. Yep... I'm watching Monty Python's Flying Circus.
:surprised

:surprised Hi Tommi! :wavey:
Well this is a really good idea! I've just finished watching "Deep Blue Sea":insane: Incredibly bad movie! :argh: If you can, you should always avoid watching this movie!!! And the special effects are really poor, so not even the cg parts are interesting. Two thumbs down! :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

Greetings,
XerC
