Thanks Rebeccak.
I have been drawing since I was a little kid. For the most part, I have learned to draw on my own. I took some ap art classes and painting classes in high school as well. Right now I am a graphics major at IUPUI, and I am taking Fine art class at Heron school of art when I can.
I usually always have a sketch pad with me. Lately I have been wanting to take some figure drawing classes, but I couldn't find any that worked with my schedule. So I have been studying out of different figure drawing books. Especially Hogarth, "Dynamic Figure Drawing." I love the style he uses in his drawings.
The first two are heads from the head workshop.
first one, I made the head way to small in proportion to the rest of bust. I should of layed it out better. Must practice more.

I enjoyed doing this one, more then the first one.
2nd one I did yesterday

The last few for the night I did a few months ago from some Leonardo Da Vinci drawings I have been working on. I will post the others once I get them scanned in. The ones with the notes are actually from a sketching assignment where we had to list facts on our favorites artists.

Well thats all for now. I look forward to looking through the sketchbooks of others on here. There are so many wonderful drawings.

spartan02,
You're welcome. :) It looks like you're off to a good start here, and interacting here with your fellow artists is really a great step toward improvement. Thank you for sharing your background with us, and I hope to see your further participation in the 50 Portraits Workshop and / or the currently active 50 Torsos Workshop (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=405198&page=1&pp=15). :)
Cheers,

Hey guys, heres a few more drawings from today. Also if anyone needs some webspace to hold there pics if photobucket won't let them, let me know. I can upload them to my webspace for you.
Was a slow day at work. Time to break out the drawing pad. :)

I tend to want to stretch out the torso more then it should I think. I keep trying not to do it but I do it almost everytime. Frustrating.

Thanks for the kind words spartan! Its really nice to have a strong will to draw, that can be used to make rapid progress! As for learning 3d have you tried sculpting the figure? It requires an armature, but I think you would benefit from it. The more you learn in clay the easier it is to use the program zbrush. Also focus on proportions of the face and body. Hogarth goes over this in his books I know. Your shading is quite good and you seem to understand shape quite well.

Thanks Nr43, and the hogarth books are definetly a great resource. I should have some more drawings up tomorrow night. I have been gone all weekend. Last chance to go camping, with my work schedule.
Womball: Thank you for your encouragement and words as well. I will have to give 3d programs a try again. I really want to get it down, I have studio max at the moment, so its a start. We had a few classes at school that I had to take for animating, but I barely got through them. I think I need to just do a bunch of tutorials to get use to doing it. I tend to want to draw out figures like I do on paper or in photoshop and illustrator. I haven't done very much sculpting but I did enjoy doing it when I did. I see what you mean on proportions, I need to be more aware of them when I lay out my figures. I tend to just sketch a line and then not make everything proportional to it.

I love his disection drawings. They are so neat to look at. I have a book thats nothing but his drawings. I am thinking about doing a reproduction of all his figure drawings.
Heres one of a skull he did.

Any crit is fully apreciated. I want to learn as much as I can, the more opinions from others the better.

spartan02,
Some nice shading stuff here so far :) - one thing I would suggest checking out is the Shading Tutorial / Exercise linked here:
Personal Sketchbook Primer and Tutorial / Workshop Guide (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=403198)
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=403198
Take a look at the work done previously by others, as there is a lot of inspiring stuff there. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Cheers,

thank you Rebeccak for your comments. I am going to attempt a skull digitaly I believe once the torso challenge is over in a few days. My shading technique is lacking and the tut on shading is just what I need.:)
one more figure to add.

Hey, Matt, good to see you in the torso challenge.
You're going well with your studies, keep it up.
I especially like your latest arm muscle; I had no idea that he disected anything!
(And well done on # 39; that's a tough one to pull off).

Thank you Yvonne, for your kind words. I have done number 39 a year or so ago, but it turned out horrible. I am glad you like this one. Hopefully I get some work up tonight, I will have to wait and see. Depends on how busy we are at work today. Thanks again.
