OUCH, lets not make this place uninviting by being sarcastic (Bob). Now about the camo....Have you tried mixing materials (procedurals such as noise or smoke)....those may give you what your looking for just change the colors to olive and dark green, etc. I will look around and see if I can find any more ideas.

Oops, sorry my bad. I had no idea though. Anywho...marble gives some interesting effects. I tried it and came close to camo, but not cigar. Have you tried looking for a picture of camo to map onto the object?

hmm i'll have to try marble. I have a pic of camo but i dont know how to map it on, and i'd really like to do it myself. I also tried gradiant ramp/noise. and in material editor, it looked nice but when i applied it the object, it was just dark green. Sorry for sounding like a newbie (which I am), but any ideas about why its doing that.

Sounds like you need to uvw map the object to me. I'm no expert at max either, but try doing that and see if it accepts the texture then.

if you're using MAX, then go to http://www.blur.com/blurbeta/
and download the Camo procedural texmap plugin.
