Hey thanks Element,

More sketches to come. I think one of the more challenging elements to paint will be the mineral deposits of chamber 5 as they have a complex surface texture.

Hey Rares, cool sketch, it certainly has the moody feel of the 5th chamber going. Nice backlighting which will work well with the complex forms. Lets see more then.

Another background Sketch partly to get a hold on compostion, partly to find my mood.

Real nice start!. the second is much more refined. but the first holds more subtle qualities i really like.. In the shadow, i am guessing thats a river running thru..Initially i thought traffic or city lighting, so i was like wow thats a pretty big landscape. to then carry the eye on to the background where there is the curved cylinder and the subtle lighting of the singularity. i thought thats pretty damned wicked!!..more mystery in the first, at least from my perspective.

jolly nice work so far!

Hy :),

I might dissapoint you a little right now, because I changed my mind regarding the splash, but I think..like a deja vous...this newer comp I made it's much and more interesting the this u saw it.

I said " deja vous" because I made the ground rounder in this new comp, :) I felt this too, because the perspective is exagerated ...of course the ground should play the same...so thank you for the advice. :)

I like your works, I've saw ur portofolio, very nice compositions, about the eon I feel the same. Nice contrast, Im very courious how u'll finishe the work. It has already a mistery of its own.

So...multa bafta si sper sa mai tinem legatura :)!!!

Great mood, I also like how this is like grayscale too. Works well with the brief. However it's a bit empty and sort of typical work. Imagine something totally crazy and worry later how the hell you're gonna do it :deal:

Anyway good composition, the cloud works well and so does the light beam.

MarkyG- Thanks for the comment. I'm working on more sketches.

Light Sovereign- Hey thanks for the comments. You're right, now that I look at the two, I can see why the first holds a little more mystery. The specular noise towards the bottom of the frame does look somewhat like city lights, but it was actually meant to illustrate the light reflecting off the mineral deposites. I'll see what I can do about retaining some of that mystery in my final piece.

Ginoshu- Multumesc! I appreciate your positive feedback. Hai sa punem un Roman top. :D

Ranath- Thanks! The grayscale is really just to help me attain my Value, composition and mood without worrying too much about the color. That will come later, although I do like the desaturated look myself. Could you clarify a little what you mean by typical? Is it not spectacular or outragous enough? In any case I'm still on the concept faze. I'll keep your crit in mind.

Hey thanks Slav. The feeling is mutual. I like where you're going with your entry. I especially enjoyed your portfolio piece 'Thyne'. Very interesting design. It has a harmony to it that I've seen in few works.

Cool images Rares.

I like the latest the best, is that the direction you're going now?
The cylinder wall backdrop is really powerfull. Looking forward to more!

That hits the spot nicely, rares. that cylinder is one of the more accurate ones for sure, not just in aesthetic but scale..It posses that 'mystery' aswell..Thats the cream of the crop for me too :D.

Hi Rares,

I like the latest the best, like how I am being led from Patricia to the midground figure (Garry?) and into the deeps of the chamber.

Good luck, and can't wait to see the next update!

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Hey Mark, thanks again for dropping by. I may very well go with the latest. I'll work on some versions of that and see how I can improve on it some more.

Thanks LightSovereign, glad I was able to preserve some mystery. As I start to finish up the image I'll try not to define some areas too much and give away the ambiguity of the vista.

Thanks Sasha, yes I was going for a left to right, foreground to background lead. I think I might have stopped too far in the right corner of the image which is creating a lead off the frame. I'm going to see if I can improve on that.

Thanks again for your comments. Happy Hollidays and Happy New Year!

I think Sketch #3 is terrific!

Sketch #4 could be another winning Concept, but maybe the field of vision should be enlarged...

Thanks for your visit and best wishes for the final rush!

I reallly like what you have started here ... one thing (maybe it's for later) I would add is more contrast. Not necessarily color ... but tonal. Show edges more clearly with a contrast around them. Subtle. It could pop some of the pieces out. If that's what you want. :)

It's been a while since I last posted and I'm cutting it close right now trying to get my piece finished on time. It's possible but I have my doubts. Sometimes however, I work best when in a crunch so it should be fun trying. This latest WIP i s the outline which I drew, scanned with a not so good scanner, and drew some more in painter. I also rendered out a wireframe from xsi to assist me with perspective because drawing a perspective cylinder by hand doesn't appeal to me so much :D.

Manzieri - I like 3 too but I also would like to showcase the vista of the chamber as well. Thanks for your comment.

Bonim- Thanks. Good idea about pushing contrast and defining edges. I'll keep that in mind.
