after I draw a picture, usually its done in pencil, and scan it into PS, the pencil lines aren't very solid. Its like the scanner zoomed in on the lines and the quality becomes no good. Should I just retrace the lines in PS or something to help make the lines crisper or is it the settings on my scanner. It seems when other people load up a sketch here its crisp and clear. Thanks for reading this and sorry about not having a picture.

If the scanned image is appearing physically larger than the actual drawing, you're going to notice the grain of the paper a lot more and your own errors will be more prominent. I've seen plenty of poor digital photos of artwork, although most scans look pretty good. If you post an image of your results, we'll be able to help better. Yes, some people do re-ink the lines in Photoshop. That's a personal choice that you're free to make.

pencil lead is a bit reflective. scanners usually break up pencil marks. I'd play with the different document settings, then try to adjust the levels on the scanner, before scanning.

I find pencil a bit tough to scan in properly . Usually, I'll take some tracing paper, and trace my pencil image in pen. These scans hold up EXTREMELY well in PS.
