View Full Version : WIP BMW 5 Series
I have only been modelling for about 4 months or so. This car is my first attempt at a high poly model (I did a few low poly objects for games before this). This is just a test render that looked ok, and the windows are mirrored because I haven't done the interior yet. Made with Lightwave 7 using subdivision surfaces/NURBS using the techniques outlined by Lewis' car tutorial (http://www.lwg3d.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4936&pagenumber=1). Without his effort I would never have learned the Lightwave tools as much as I have in this short period of time. This is my first model I've used Layout and surfaces for so I'm sure it can be improved upon. My general understanding of surfacing has been greatly aided by Leigh's surfacing tutorials as well.

I hate it when no one replys....it looks like a very good model from the view you've provided. do you have any other renders with different views? Also, a little more lighting would help. Nice job!

thats a really crappy render and the env map looked terrible (which is why I didn't use it in the first shot).

yo man!
very good looking car for someone whos only 4 months old! (:surprised)
heheheh
it's true you looked at a tutorial. are you going to do the interior?
the thing is: now, do it again without the tutorial. just to check you've learned. but another car :p
congrats!
yeah I'm gonna do the interior next. Also, the tutorial did a mustang, I just used the techniques outlined and applied it to a diff car, I could do it all again without the tutorial easily. I actually stopped following the tutorial a long time ago (I read through it a few times at work before I actually tried it myself)
