At which resolution do you work?
Thanks alot ukitel! my resolution 3629 1837 at 300 dpi.:)

The sky looks fantastic. Do you used photos or painted it all?
IMHO the res is too low, the tech rquirments say "A guideline is 2657 pixels wide and/or 3636 high, 300 DPI (portrait), or 3636 pixels wide and/or 2657 pixels high, 300 DPI (landscape)."
Anyway great start, I wish you good luck and alot of fun
Hi Nomad, yes I use some small parts of clouds photo but the hole sky I buildit the shape is all mine.About Resolution:"DO NOT up-sample your images to achieve higher resolution. If you cannot reach the desired full-page resolution, just send in what you have."
I don t think is a problem!
Thanks for comments!

L-O-V-E the clouds! Is this inside the rock though, I think, in the book although the chambers are vast you can still see the walls, even the one that goes on forever. I might be wrong, it has been eons (sorry, couldnt resist again) since I read it.
Hi Jose-Pardo, I know but the book is to inspire as we not supose to make everything like it is we must create alot, ofcorse theme from the book is the base, anyway you can illustrate in a many ways, every artist have his vision, the book is reden by the alot of people and every guy see different atmosphere and composition.
Thanks for comments!

Your skills are too much for me! You're insane!
You should make a tutorial for that.
I got a question...
Do you use textures for clouds and sea? Simply references?

Really beautiful work on those colors and clouds! Great job so far!
Only comment to add is that the ball of light in the sky looks like a sun, not like a tube or beam. And the horizon looks pretty flat.. I guess I mean, this looks more like a terrestrial painting than one that takes place in a chamber, and I wonder if you would bring more details in that would itentify it as taking place in one of the cyclindrical chambers on the Stone as opposed to somewhere else?
Good luck!

Woah. Very nice
Are you using photograhps with your painting? Or everything just coming up as you go?
Looks so clear.. with nice palette. Keep it up!
It's looking beautiful, and the speed you've done this much in is crazy.
But I will mirror the concerns that others have expressed about it not adhering to the book enough. There is obviously always room for artistic interpretation, but the book lays out some very clear visual 'rules' about each setting. This is coming across more as a completely separate fantasy land rather than a scene from Eon; The horizon isn't cylindrical - theres a sun instead of the plasma tube - you can't see the nickle-iron cylinder cap at the end - and you can't see the other side of the cylinder through the haze of the sky.

Hmm the islands look as if they were pasted on there, try and fuse them INTO the environment... On another note... is this a sort of matte painting?
Thanks

great job Adrian:thumbsup:
Hey Adrian, I have to beanother who chimes in with a critique. A lot of people are missing a really important detail about the chambers in Eon. They are cylinders - they wrap around 360 degrees - in other words, if you looked directly up in your image, in the distance you would see the water above you, with boats upside down. At the moment, this image, while really beautiful, is not Eon concept art. But keep going!
Thanks alot PMD I will keep that in mind when I do the final comp, maybe I will put some part of the entry in the chamber.

10-10-2006, 07:12 PM
HI Adib very nice composition so far, the colors are brilliant. As far as the chambers go , I don't know if I agree with PMD. The chambers are cylinders, but they have an athmospehere. The one thing I have to crit on is the light source It looks like you are using a sun, and the descriptions state that each chamber has the light come from a Plasma Tube. Thats just my 2 cents, I think this is so far my favortite image in the Eon contest.

hi man, pls don't rush to finish this scene, it would be too bad because you are on the right track but it's far from being a breathtaking scene. i still think the metalframe doesn't match with the rest of the piece it looks pasted in since nor perspective nor light nor detaillevel look like its part of the rest of the piece.
in case the frame is 3d, i sugest to use the same lightsetup and a non ortographic cam (preferly the same like u used for the island render), reduce the mainlightsource of blue to a minimum, push the specularity (spackled) of the metal and insted of a simple bump try displacement on the riples, that should add detail on the whole frame in case you want to light up the front slighly, volumetric fog always is a nice option to do so... atmospherics in general would help your foreground.
If its not 3d, its a very simple object easily modeled in a few hours, there's so much time, it would be a shame to drop the beautiful islandscape into frame that doesnt match it.
of course, thats just my own point of view, hope the sugestions help you in any way.
keep it up, cheers
Its a beautiful image Adrian, but by ignoring the fact that the chambers are cylindrical, this has very little relation to a scene from Eon. There are no horizons in the chambers. My honest opinion - if you take this image into Photoshop, and run Distort/Polar Coordinates/Rectangular to Polar, you'll see what I mean (obviously not as a final, but just to illustrate how you landscape could look incredible as a wraparound). The cylindrical nature is the whole central point of the landscapes in the book. Sorry if this is a harsh crit - if I was critiquing the image as a standalone, I'd give it 5*, but as a piece of concept art from Eon, it needs work. But you have loads of time!
Hi guys,Thanks so much for your comments and sugestion!I also have my opinion and I may say it is very strong one. What hapend if all of you make exactly the cilindrical shape of the Chambers, will be alot of same perspective and shape for most af our works. We need to take same parts not all of the ideea of the chamber shape and also we must creat alot not to do something like in the arhitecture way because is not a challenge for arhitecture and tehnics is a challenge of CREATION!We not supose to be precise because is not a map with the height and width is not a tehnical project is a creation one. Also the Earth have a spherical shape but from our point of view we dont see that right.
Thanks for all!

No prob.
However, even if this is your interpretation, I think accuracy is the only thing that will cause this picture to lose out.
Its not a matter of technicality - rather the cylindrical shape is completely wrong. The book expresses that the inherent perspective of the Stone is so weird that it freaks people out, and I think that it should be reflected in art regarding it.
Check out the cover art of Eon, and you might see what I mean. Alot of people have interpreted the chambers wrongly, so you're not alone, but had most of you checked the "the story" thread on the first forum page or actually studied the book, you'll notice that the concept itself is wrong, not the measurements, nor the drawing, nor anything else, its the concept thats inaccurate.
Hope this helps you.

Latest Update: Final Image: The Fourth Chamber

I like the appearance of the tube! But in the fourth chamber, you'd see the tubelight running into the chamber wall in the distance... The ratio between diameter of the chamber (fifty km) and length (30km) being what it is! Tubelight might also be larger and more diffuse, though artistically, I like this approach quite a bit.]

Hey Adrian,
this is an outstanding creation, very beautiful vision:thumbsup: !
It's all said about the general shape and I accept your interpretation this way...Concerning the goal - creating something eyecatching and to attract the viewer, making him curious - I think your picture actually does all of this, so I can just say: congrats!:)
Cheers,
-sabrina
Thanks daWinky, thanks MichaelZHsee, thanks GregBear I tried to do my best:bounce: ,about the Tubelight I will tried this weekend to make another interpretation of the light. Thanks GregBear for your consideration!

This time is a very small corection of the depth.I make this because the tubelight is not like a laser is more diffuse.Looks better like that. Thanks for the advise.I am glead that sow many people who like my work.Best to all.

It's interesting to see the different colors, but in all of the lower examples, you've lost all of the subtlety that make your original color choices work so well. And they do work well! There's no need to fix something that isn't broken.
Congrats on finishing.

I agree. It's sometimes useful to try things just to show how right you were the first time. The blue one is nice, but your piece is great the way it is.
