View Full Version : Eon (3D Scene) Entry: Cyril Taussat
Lemog 11-28-2006, 08:29 AM The texturing style is okay for me, even if I've imagined something a bit different... but that work good like that...
just 2 remarks...
- the chrome parts at the back appear too much clean, especially at this engine place...
- the edges too sharp are really disturbing on the piece beside the kind of wheel sheet... something smoother like the rest will be better...
Good continuation, I continue to really appreciate this machine

Mooooorning friends !
Thanks a lot Sabrina for your words, they're very appreciate ! this ship give the main feeling for global texturing of the scene. Soon the texturing of the city ! :bounce:
I understand for the darker paint, i've made some test before going to sand color, but it was not in my taste really. (Or maybe i've missed the textures..... :scream: )
Pwet Laurent, happy you can follow a few my thread :)
For your crits, you're right !
- chrome part : they needs more word on dirty map it's clear. Some dirty and engines marks around the helix tube and on the end of the main reactor pipe onto the tube, some dirty on the lateral pipes, and of course under the reactor, next to the cabin.
- edge :  i've seen this one. The reflect map bringing out this edge, besides, this part of reflect map is black, so this part of the texture is tone down.
I need to fix the reflect map and as you say, smooth this edge :)
Thanks Laurent for your crits and interest ! :)

I thought that You use much darker and shinier textures, but your final version is great, too!

hey great texture, though the metal could be dirtier, to match the rest of the craft :)
johnnymaster
11-29-2006, 10:29 AM
me again, actually i don't think that the metal part has to be dirtier, firstly the stone isn't a place with so much dirt and secondly the metal parts are many meters above the ground, so how could it be dirty? I think the dirt is enough on that part ;)
Hey Mohammad ;)
Taavi and Chaitanyak Thanks dudes ! i've still some work on texture, hop you'll find it in you taste on the final .
Linh, it's a good point. I just think i'll do only some work on, logical for me (tell me if it is for you) :
black points parts are dust areas to add.
- Under the Reactor, between him and the cabin, to make the piling up of dust.
- on the pipes : near the reactor entry, and on the lateral part, to suit the spotting line of the ship.
- The Helix, i just want to add some usury drags and dust.
In my mind it's more a use sign than a dirty adding. no ? ;)

yeah, "used" sounds a lot better than dirt i think hehee. Everybody want dirts:twisted: I think it's more challenging to make an objekt with a natural used look than obsessively dirty. I think it's like the work on skin, it's very hard to make clean, young but realistic skin, old skin with lot or pores and wrinkles is lot easier, so it's maybe a more attractive choice to some artists.
The places for the dusts is fine in my opinion, did you alreay play around with ambient occlusion? You could change the black color of the AO with a dust-color, maybe you'll have some nice effect!
TheSoracle
11-29-2006, 09:52 PM
Now it has more of the 'comic book' feel Linh mentioned.
Actually, the tail end looks quite vectorized to me. Were you aiming for this effect?
It appears to transition from vector to realisitic. Nice!

i do agree that there is not much "dirt" on the stone , earlier when i said the metal needs to be "dirter", i should have been clearer... i meant the kind of discolouring that gathers on exhaust pipes of bikes and in the engines of some cars... more an oily stained look than "dirt". hope that helps
Morning friends ,
yes Steven, it's really like i want here. Maybe we can say that textures are not to realistic, how a mats can be dirty and shiny in same time ? :scream:
But colors and shader help to have this vectorized style. I think if i made all buildings textures like this, it possible to obtain a really stylized final, i hope.
Chaitanya, don't worry indeed we say same things. Not too dirty by travels or chaotic environnement, more agree with your "kind of discolouring", with metal color which turn to a sort of copper red metal.

Hi all,
After some adds, i've decide too stop my work on this vehicle.
Maybe the final result is not the best realistic possible to do, but i've found a certain esthetism in this version with copper red touch.
The front is less detailled than the back because he'll be see by the backside in the final composition.
So now, 46 days left, time to create a caracter.
another render in black environment :)

Hey Jesus, that's why i've post him for the dark background, very great contrast, vray mats reflect the empty environment.
I've begin the caracter Mohammad, work on a part of the night, 4h sleeping and work on again since the morning, hope to make an upload tonight. ;)

me again mates,
here my modeling of last night and today for the Patricia's head.
Take few time because i'm not really used to create human head (just one before Patricia), and she has needed some tweaking.
I plan to open Zbrush (omg) to use projection master for the skin, and import normal bump in 3ds max.
crits welcome of course (i post more pics in few minutes)
here some over views and wireframes :)

I just checked out this thread so you might be farther along in the process than I realize. I havent been on in a long while.
Anyway I really like the architechture it is very eye catching and grand. I do see some issues.
One at a base level all citys are built to be functional. They are built to accomodate thier inhabitants not domminate them. I'm not familiar with the book or the background of this challenge so I dont know if this is the city of an intimidating character or something like that.
Also you need to think about the massive amount of people that would have to enter and exit these buildings. To fill buildings this large tens of thousands of people would need to travel to and from. It just looks a bit crowded for commerce in my mind.
Well great work, cant wait to see how it turns out.
Cardwell
12-01-2006, 10:27 PM
This message must be ten characters long.
Hey Cardwell, first, thanks for your reply.
I agree with your opinion on the city's functionality. However, in the EON book, building are very very large (3-4 kilometers / 1,9 to 2,5 miles). It's already a difficulty to realisize a city which have not a human scale, so here, i think we can say they dominate :scream:.
You're maybe right for the crowded aspect, for simply reason i've not take care about that it's true. I've take a lot of liberties with the original concept of Mr Bear from scratch, so i've follow my idea and decided to play the esthetism card (mine anyway), no the real functionality or effictivness of architecure. This include your comment about the entrances.
It's clear, not create to manage a too big people flow.
I hope the global scene can live down the logical archi mistakes :)
JamesMK
12-02-2006, 08:02 PM
Well, I agree you don't have to consider a strict architectural logic at all here. OK, sometimes it can actually help when fleshing out a concept, but sometimes it doesn't. We're supposed to be visualizers, not engineers :)
One small thing I noticed when looking at the final version of the ship unit (which looks really good by the way) - it seems you've got a bump map going pretty strongly along the sides of the ship, and I thought it might look even better if you move that map to the specularity channel instead. Just an experiment, but I'm pretty sure it will have a positive effect on the perception of scale.
Anyways, keep going!

vehicl looks great,
like how patricia is turning out
James, it's an experiment to do clearly. This map is more bumpy in black environment naturrally, and i don't know how will really be environnement on final scene.
I guess also that in specularity map, i can winning time for the render.
Try to do a update on this tonight, thanks for your advice :)
lol Steven, it's true, i've spend time on this f**è#~à@ vehicle ! :scream: but it's not finish, one more test to do with James'advice :banghead: :D
Heeyyy Gonzalo ! happy to see you here again ! how are you , and with your entry friend ?
Arggg one prize, it's always a hope but i don't think so, and yes...you put me under pressure !! be careful that i don't burst like a lemming ! :D
Thanks Chaitanya, glad you like the first Patricia look !
As i've said many time before, i've take some liberties from the original concept, and i think i'll do the same with patricia. Don't really know where this model take me along, but today, i want to try an instinctive modeling. I've it work, kewl ! if not, i've lost one day ! :)

Hey Cyril,
great work on the vehicle! love the front very much. The minimalisticness of it gives a nice contrast to the rest. Als good start on the head. How many characters were you planning on doing?
cheers and good luck man
Hey Nico, glad you like :)
to answer you, this is the order of works for now :
- finish Patricia in first
- return on the buildings for mapping and placing
- increase the level detail on the city.
- integrate caracter and vehicle to the scene.
- make a test for the cam travelling
And if i've time before the dead line, maybe another caracter like a library guard :)

The ship is extremelly well textured... I hope i could texture like you... On Patricia, there are two remarks i have to make... One is that the are between the lips and the jaw must be pushed back a bit and the other is that the side of her nose in the nostril area is too flat...Keep going and keep us posted...
hey both thanks dudes !
Jesus, i wasn't able to show Patricia yesterday night for some external reasons, hop to make un upload quickly (in this day).
icedeyes, thanks for your comment
Anyway i agree for the crits on nostril, it will be manage for the next update :)
Abit less agree for the lips and jaw, do you really think they are too far ?
icedeyes
12-05-2006, 12:59 PM
first of all i made a typo... i meant to push the area between the lips and jaw back... i made some "corrections" on your render so that you may see the areas i find a little problematic and how i would fix them... Hope that helpshttp://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k226/icedeyes/suggest.jpg
oh yes now it's totally clear. I've thought that you wanted to push back all the chin part (you've understand my request), but here you're right indeed for the under lips part.
So this two points will be manage for next ! Thank for your fastly feedback !

After some difficulties, here the patricia's body. I think she need few work over...i'm not really used to create body, and sincerely, even if i've refs, isn't easy to have the shape i want.
All crits are welcome to improve this modeling.

hey ! moving preaty fast !
good job, the face is loocking better now, but at the body try to keep clean the topology and ad more edges if you fill the nead especialy in the torso, try to keep the faces quads, and you'll get ridd of some artifacts.
in rest good job and great speed !
Nice work, I think she needs more of a jaw bone...

hi guyz,
i've realise some test of modeling and shading for patricia's combi.
I think to stay at this kind of version. Tones are not definitive, i wanna do some test, refine the trousers, and do some test again. :)
Anyway, the unwrap for t-shirt is ok.
I'll surely add some accessories to increase the detail level, and work the shader.
Hey Andrei, i agree but as you can see in the last update, refine the body shape isn't necessary. Not i'm not in the mood for doing this, but not needed for this caracter, even if i'll do this later, for my personnal satisfaction.
i want to speed a few now because deadline come close and i've so much things still to do !
Thanks yoff :) maybe she needs more jaw-bone. I'll do some tests too !

Hey hi friends,
Michelhunt, great great thanks, i love hear such things :scream: seriously, challenge is first a pleasure, with subject i don't search myself and deadline, but i try to do my best and it's always rewarded with such comment. Many thanks to you.
Hey Laurent, many times i've not see you here ;) happy that you find nothing to crits !! yeeah! :D
For several reasons, i've work on a different style than the book. I've read it, and it's true, patricia is discribe like a non perfect girl, and the ship is not a ship but a truck. From scratch, i've made some choice to have a certain esthetism, mine really. I 'know i'm not in the point of view of the book, but....pff héhé!
And yes, when i see others challenges i've try, im' proud of my progress now. In my memories, from first ("spectacular" for me) you're follow my work, so it's true, you can see the difference...and thanks for that. I'm supported by many people here, elsewhere, and my IRL friends and professional, so my skill is increasing day by day.

Morning all,
Spire, thanks mate, i've jump on your comment with my update ,sorry. Glad you like, i try to make a good work on shader, and hope it will be visible in the final composition :)
Andrei, prabath, mohamad and Sabrina, thanks. :)
i'm glad you like this new way on composition. This one is actually more futuristic sure, but needed for me. The old compo was cool but...difficult to give a strong feeling to the city, and difficult to make understand the "wow" feeling of the caracter. Here, no need facial expression, i think composition and architecture can speak for that.
Hope it's not a mistake, i can't go back.:scream:

Hi there! looking great! I´ll say a different number.... the 3rd!:D :P
Heyy thanks all guys and girl !! For here and elsewhere, it's number 3 ! Thanks for you feedbacks. I've just made a little rotation of the cam, to be more clean.
Gonzalo, happy to see you here, how are you my spanish tortilla ? :d
Such things to do, but the global lightning is already made, with 3ds max radiosity and scanline, render are fastier.
Update soon ! Thank again all !

Just a environment test, after a placing and first texturing and lightning work, not definitive, but it give a certain motivation to continue and finish this insane project.
Global lightning was create with a dome light, and a scanline render in max.
Some postwork toshop to obtain a cool image, for fun :)

Wicked! :buttrock:
It's been a wile since my last check on your thread, just yesterday I started whit EON again.. and now I am looking on this hehe.
Great modeling so far, I am just waiting to see your vehicle, I dnt know if it fits whit the rest of your mod, but is just personal opinion.
That render test is in the final aspect ratio? coz if it is, I dont think the square format help u!
Anyway, I didnt read the posts, just watch the pictures, Im checking 2morrow and check it with more pacience, now Ive got 2 go or my family will kill me, xmass time :).

The latest update looks great! My only crit would be that the piece somewhat lacks a sense of scale at the moment. Maybe a vehicle or a few people off in the distance would really lend to the sense of grandeur? Other than that I think the work is coming along fantastically.
MitchelHunt thanks for stopping by and comment :)
Alvin-cgi thanks too, glad you like this building scape ! i'm going to create others to be more "cityscape", of course.
Hey Reinaldo, happy to see you here, you've started again ? good news mate. It's not the final aspect ratio don't worry, take this more like a "closeup' :)
I understand your worries and hope my next update could help to understand project more.
Leving thanks. i think too a caracter can help for the scale. I must do rigging of patricia, and pose her near the vehicle, and global image will be clearer i think. :)
I hope you've all spend a merry Xmas.

Hey Cyril. Your last environment test looks impressive. I do think though that the city is in need of some more larger buildings surrounding the ones you already have. Maybe it's just me.
Still, I hope you get finished on time. It's very much possible. Good luck!

Your image is starting to come together. I would like to see your final composition because as is it feels like it needs more of the larger buildings, but that might not be an issue depending on your camera composition.
wouuutchh ! hi people !!
first, let me wish you all an happy new year ! after one hard week of work and fiesta, time to finish this challenge.
Celine ^^ DOF surely ! thanks for your comment and rendez-vous in 13 days for the all-done picture !
Claudio, right point for you, the ungreeble. It's indeed the texture which give much this impression, and details on modeling can help :)
thanks dude
Chaitanyak, thanks ! hope too i can finish on time. it's possible ! it's possible !! Sorry to read that you can't, it's my third contest, and first near to be finish in time :)

Snows, final composition coming soon ! i've made one scanline render for the background, and a vray render for the foreground, need to be composite in photoshop to adjust light, and after that, postwork powaaaa !
i've made some test for the cam sequence, with 3 cams around the city and vehicle. try to up previews soon ;)

Hey Cyril!! Its true... I LIVE!!!
Anyway, been ages since I have checked up on your thread, sorry about that. Been busy with my lifeguard training and such. As you could've guessed, I haven't touched my thread. Seeing as I am too lazy to check back on all of your multiple updates, I will just comment on this one.
Wow, you sure have come a far way :D The rock and water with the displacement map look awesome. It looks so realistic... assuming it IS ice XD. Just thought I would let you know it appears more to be ice because of it's color and 'frostiness' so to speak than water.
The overall scene as seen on the right looks incredible. To think how far you have come since the train (massage bed :P). The lighting looks awesome, overall I love it.
I shall try to keep up with your thread for the next 12 days in the challenge. I can't wait to see the final product.
Keep up the awesome work!!! You are almost done, and so is the challenge.

now you've put on my mind the ice correlation, i can't let this like that :p. Anyway, with the global lightning of the full scene, it appears really like water.
Right scene is near of the final one, some additional buildings to come, some move to reduce the repetition, and full of detail to do....wearying!
You can come when you want friend, you're always welcome ;)

Looking good Cyril, just cople things, 1st the angle of the background is bigger than the one in the foreground, also you warp a bit the foreground floor but not the wall behind it, that makes a bit of noise to me. Second, you should add some more buildings in the background behind the library (no necesary 3D, maybe some far background ambient texture) that will make the scene much more bigger, maybe whit couple mountains could be done just a coment. Finaly if I were you I will add some cold colors (maybe using some spotlights or something). Just my opinion.
Keep it up friend!

Aspirin thanks a lot !
Heyhey Reinaldo ! For the background, i've now a lot of poly in my scene (i've not the count...must to look for fun) so, i'll create a empty scene with some buildings, and integrated it on the city scene with a 2Dplan.
Btw, I don't really understand what problem you've got with the angle.
Thanks for your constructive comment amigo !
Hey Sabrina, héhé thanks :)
animation.....more cams travelling than animation...i'll render some previews and put on this thread soon, promise. Thanks for your support and kind words !

This is probably near the tones for the final render. I've made a pass for the DOF, and integrated a plan with specific render for the city background .
Made some test too for a light garden on the front of the library.
Some modeling and texturing to do, and some artefacts to correct, but it's soon the last postwork for the illustration.
For animation, i think just do a camera travelling in grey/few textured environment. Just to show as asked it's in 3D, don't want to do a trailer.

Zhuli, you're right, bridge need more work, like the foreground and i hope to give you good news in the next update :)
Opentarget, thanks :) epic ? yes ! :scream: ! reach my goal...
Gonzalo :scream: no sorry don't put the banana...i've try, but too realistic for my piece. :scream:
let me say to you that you're faking well the swiss clock ! :p
Snows, héhé it take clearly an other twist with the buildings plan on the background. more huge and massive.
For animation, as i said, i'm not in the trailer category, and i think it will be a mistake to create a reel animation. We must just show that it's not a matte or a painting if i've correclty understand, just show that is 3D. so Ok...a "cinematic preview" with simple travelling could be sufficient unto.
(i'm not saying that people who turn this into little trailer make wrong, it's just my opinion)

Here a close up from the front of the library, with a stone tree attached by cables to the floor; and the textured little city under her feet.
Use 3 simply textures of futuristic hard surfaces to create some parts with differents tones onto the buildings.

Hey Cyril,
great detail so far,
but now it is all comming together, i notice your proportions are totally incompatible. Looking at the scale of perspective of the end of the bridge compared to the front, you can tell the vehicle is way to big. The vehicle could almost fit in the entrence of the library, and so you can conclude the character wouldn't even fit in those small buildings there below.
This gives the overal image no feeling of a huge scene of immence buildings.
The tree even strenghten that cause the building looks much smaller than you intended.
Maybe there is still a way to correct this.
cheers

can't find words, just amazing :)
one crit though (I'm not sure if this wasn't mentioned or talked, so please forgive).
I would make bridge texture wider, I mean the streat. Lanes are much too narrow
in compersion with the vehicle. It looks strange to me. I would resign from those
painted lines... But that is just me:) still one of the best art here!
Nomad
01-11-2007, 11:11 AM
I agree with arturro, the roads have to be wider, maybe a double way is enough and not four...
Anyway you did a great work so far, c`est magnifique
you're both right men, i've made some change on the bridge texture, windows texture of the big building, change the size of the "little city" and size of the tree, to be more scale.
I'm now going to finish to render the grey-animation, and hope to upload my final image this night :)

-sabrina
heey Chaitanyak really thanks, it seems i've a good idea to put this tree on !
Sabrina, lool always here keep watching oO
I'm on Patricia now (nothing sexual :D ), i've already make the final render for the scene, i was bound to make a blowup render, 'cause some "error creating bitmap" when render.
The blowup render is by parts. And after having paste all parts, my final resolution was approaching the 14644 x 10628 pixels :scream: :scream:....some little problem.....oups forgive to make small the render size...16 parts, each 3636x2657...it's why my computer have some difficulties... lol
Sooooooooooooo, another render, and now i'm in 3636x2657.
It seems to actually have some specificities i've not really understand for final still render with my poor crap english, but i've time to read the FAQ.
Some post-work to do before upload it here.
I've already begun the anim test but, with some travelling, i'm yet to 18seconds length. Maybe some cut to do.
And if i've time why not make a colorized animation. (i make her ine grey-no textured for now)
But now, patricia's hairs and pose...
OK.
This is superb interpretation.
nothing much to comment at the time given,,cos Im in a lot of rush.
Best of luck finishing this ...

Really thanks, i'm happy to be here, at this point, for my really first challenge close to the end, it's a little victory for myself...next step, last render for validation :)
Not an official update, but i've made some travelling camera, and try the FLV encoder for the anim in same time i'm working on patricia...around 20 secondes here (download FLV sequence) (my ftp is down, i make an upload this night on CGtalk)
don't know if it will be the final version or not...but a travelling is a travelling. hop you like.

hi again here,
after doing some test with final files, i was disapointed by the small height of character and vehicle in the final still. So ridiculous.
So i've made some search and create another level in the picture.
Here a compotest, with elements in lowres, (sorry)and without final 3d render. Just to see if composition bring me satisfaction. I've made some overpaint under the station plane, to markup work to do to give her a real depth.
C&C welcome of course
fantastic! I SAID! F A N TA S T I C! ...the hi level give more "power" to the image! looks like we are with the character looking to the library!! You heve a winner imae in your hands!

but... this road on the left ...mmmmmmm... bothers me a little bit. I think loses perspective cause it seems that this road "goes out" from the vehicle, d you know what I mean?

hi all,
After a global optimize, here the near full scene. Just some things to add again, but spirit is here. I've worked the light to have a kind of sunset lightning, not the night but end of the day with backligthning.
Global work on photoshop is just to give picture a comics effect. From start i want to have a kind of comics style with working the shader, and now working the post-effect. I think i'm close now.
Some adjustments to do, with my last render in king size, and warm up the wacom !

Hey Cyril,
 ... ... :applause: !!
as you can see I'm a little speechless about the last updates...the scene is amazing, not much to add...I'm looking forward now to see your final steps!
-sabrina
Gonzalo, my friend who has always good advice.
(except the banana........ ) I've move the left road, and down the second one, with DOF it could be cool for sens of depth, thanks.
I've down the highlight of spot on foreground too.
Some change still to do on modeling and colors.
hey hey Sabrina ! :wavey::cry::arteest::love:
some little updates, only for suspens, (lol) and final step comes.
This week end i make the animation too...even if challenge's end is the 31th, i'm forced to finish 28th evening, caus' professionnal stuff, mayber can i take some hour monday...but not too much.
i take a rest when i'll be dead.... :scream:

looking real good! 2 things that bug me right now because that's immediately where my eye is drawn and there's nothing there: the big empty deck space in the middle plan - way too empty, shiny and pink :) and what's that white empty space on the right - I'm guessing you're still going to fill it with something?! also it's a tiny bit strange that those signs in the bg are so visible - the green numbers I mean - are they supposed to be lit?!
All in all I like your concept a lot - especially the vehicle and look forward to the finished product :bounce:

Hey swed,
Great job you've done here. But why should you reduce the contrast on the foreground? Ain't it better to keep an high contrast on foreground and lower contrast on background? A bit like in the latest image. It gives a bit of depth-feeling this way. And I think you should watch the dof, it could easily ruin the scene, but can also improve it. Tweeeak it! :wip:
Keep it up!

hi friends,
i introduce you the final choice to do for the title of "eon final still". I've some difficulties to choose, second have more contrast, maybe is she more "realistic" ... and first is more colored, more comics illustration to me, and my favorite... it should be interesting for me to have your opinion on it.
Intervain, thanks for your critics, and i hop the last update can bring answers to you :)
Toverdoos, agree for the DOF, that's why i'm extremly careful with this kinf of effect :)
For the contrast, i agree too, but i work on a LCD screen and contrast is already strong, i can imagine that RCT users can see.
Snows, thank you man hope you 'll like the final :)

Morning Cyril,
ah, you've been busy...and the choice is not easy now, both versions are so good:thumbsup: ...but I'd prefer the first one, just out of a feeling;) .
Patiently waiting for the final upload now...

...on this pic you have only few tones... and that uniformize the scene too much with the first... it's the reason why I prefer the second (sorry saby :scream: ... this one keep a good contrast of elements, while keeping much strong mood... well done Cyril
Encore une fois bravo pour les progrès... ça fait vraiment plaisir de suivre ce chemin parcouru depuis ta première participation... continue like that man :applause:

Good luck with movie-clip!

Hi Cyril, nice job so far... I agreed whit Lemog, first one color scheme is flat next to the second one, almost looks like an earlier stage of development, I opt for the second one mate, also the nature of the composition is more realistic, that improves the mood. Just my two cents, cheers!
Goooooood moooorniinnnng CGTaaalk friends,
Spire thanks, can i submit the both please ? :scream:
Gonzalo, thanks for your advice, i'm ok, this version in fact needs clearly some lights areas.
;) gracias amigo
hé Sabrina, i've been busy, i'm busy, i will be busy :D. Like you, my pref goes to the one, but other comments are good and rights about the flate side, and about the second one. I Think that the second will surely be the final.
Heyhey Laurent,
thanks for your crits, which corroborate others, friend.
taavi thanks for your choice (my little voice inside still vacillate... )
Reinaldo, great to see you in this difficult matte pass. I think follow your advices with Laurent, thanks again mate !
Thanks all, i've take some hours to work on, ang give the final still and final animation tonight.
i've some difficulties with the map rendering (ram troubleshooting), so bound to make a grey render (except for the vehicle), but not a real problem, from the foundations, i want to make a cinematic only.
And after that, i sleep during one week :D
thanks again all guyz and girl.

Ok mens...
Here my final render for the CG TALK EON CHALLENGE !
After long weeks to work, this entry is done and It's my first done on a cg challenge. After two unsuccessfull attempt, this one is finish.
About the Final Still :
I've work on a 3K final version. All modeling was made on 3d studio max, with Vray render. Final scene count more of 4billions polys, after optimisation.
The needed submissions is standard size, and i offer you to see the 3k high resolution here : http://swedweblog.jexiste.fr/ftp/DISCOVERING.jpg
Postwork count about 25 layers, i've made a first preview of composite on the thread.
Background Story of this one is about the first time Patricia sees the Alexandria city in the 2nd chamber. Lanier offer her to see the city of Alexandria by herself, and discovering the main building, the center of her firsts discoveries, the library.
She discover and unhuman size city, with building about 4km length, completly incredible.
I've try to retranscribe the greatness of this city, like i've imagine her in reading the book.
I'm conscient, i've take some liberties from the original concept.
About the animation :
Uum....i've met some obstacle from my start idea. I offer you only travelling camera in grey environment (except for some elements), i hope it will be sufficient unto.
I hope upload quiclky a high version if some of you are interested.
It is a 48sec version, with audio track.
TO THE MODERATORS (scuze me James for this disgusting copy/paste) I've take a last liberty to put a audio track was not made by myself.
it will be appreciate, if it is a problem, to let me know this and allow me an upload without audio.
thanks for consideration.
FINAL THANKS
thanks CGsociety of course for bring to us this kind of challenge.
thanks to my girlfriend, who haven't grumble about my relationship with my computer this last weeks.

thanks Snows, glad if you appreciate. I've post on your thread, i like very much what you did in your final piece, it's a really good still too ! wish you good luck friend !
Jesus, prize winner waou ! could you be a jury member please ? :D
Maybe, maybe not. After so many time spend on this project, i've no hindsight on my work.
coolkonrad, in the trailer section, it need more of my technical still. I'ven't proficiencies to correctly rig a character for animate him, i'vn't competences to create FX. I'm just a modeler.
Hydrocell, thanks. It's true that light help a lot. i's why i've take time to optimize scene and make render wiith Vray. With scanline render, global lightning was the same, down the line, but in details, and for the differents pass, Vray is more technical and more fine.
Sabrina, i've do it, i've do it ! :bounce: :D ...like churchill do (http://www.number-10.gov.uk/files/images/WC%20V%20sign1.jpg)...

Coficition, glad you like ! maybe next time i'll be crazy enough to go with you in the Trailer section... ^^
Arturro, thanks. As you've see, the animation is just travelling sequences, i've no animate character or vehicle, particle or smoke. Introduce the city like a kind of "making of", with some cameras and a compositing was the better idea to offset.
Okmer ca fait un moment que je ne l'avais pas entendu celle la !
