very nice vehicle!! but i feel the scene is a bit uninteresting as nothing is happening. maybe you have more plans than the concept tells?
for example, why not have the seekers looking for someone/something and let the viewer see that person/things shadow somewhere in the pic.. sure there are alot of better more original scenarios, thats just a quick example.

Nice job on the texturing. It kind of reminds me of a jerry rigged half life 2 camera thing... the one that floats around and takes blinding pictures of you. I'm nearly half way through the book and don't think I've come across this gadget yet. Looks fun.

thanks for the idea, Anders. yes, i have some plans for the scene. it will be some interpretation of the 6th chamber.there are two seekers in the center and back of the image, they are patrollynig the streets to veriffy if everything works ok.
and, Zach, i gues you'll never found this gadget in the book 'couse it's something i brought in the scene of the chabmer to make it more organic i gues.
i mean, this chamber is a verry mechanical one, so i brougt in some live mechanics. i see it as
a dark organic-mechanicall world, where the presence of the man is just a rare fact, maybe just some visitors, so my scene will have 2 persons somewere in the distance, trying to show this fealing. in rest it will be just a huge mechanical city-organism.
(i don't know if my vision of the 6th chamber is corect, i did't read the book, just the description on the Cg forums.would like to read it , but i can't find it in my country.. :(. )
hope you like my interpretation :D, and.... i will post soon a more clean sketch.
thanks all and good luck to all chalengers

sorry for not posting something new but i found some chapters from the boock and i'm thinking to rebuild the sketch and rethink the concept of the scene.

Very nice models and the texturing of them is great. I think they will fit well into your street scene. I would just suggest to add some sort of terrain curvature to the sky background. This is going to look great when done.

looking good, looking goooooooooooood. the models are really cool, the textures... mm... don't seem so clean nor motivated, but they're OK. the concept drawings are great.
what kind of plans do you have with your scene? is it going to be part of an animation thingy?
AndreiSzasz
11-07-2006, 08:03 AM
@ Dustin thanks hope it will progress to the right direction :D
@ Virgil thanks dude :D , about the texures...i'm still working on that... and it'll be some changes. i just found some good references of rust metal and metal plates and i foud out how the shaders should look, soo i'm now working again on those textures to make them look right.
about the animation, i gues there will be a 4 seconds animation spot, 'couse for the final submission there must be an animatet shot of the scene, and i'm now planning it :D

You mention having problems rigging her. Do you plan on animating her? Or, is this only for posing? If for posing, you can always use a simple rig and tweak her afterwards with your normal modeling workflow. Just an idea.

I like everything but i think that patricia should look more worried (as a stance of the body, like holding the rail with both hands or something) since in most of the book she is flipping out about something... Other than that, if you add more depth to the scene (fog or dof) it will look perfect...
AndreiSzasz

great work up here.
i'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but maybe the neck of your character should be a little longer. So the head is standing higher. She looks like she's afraid something is going to fall onto her.

hey mate, really cool texture works! I like your environment concept, the design and colors are simply remarkable. In the last days i've changed the concept for my environment to a really dark and gloomy place with some steampunk elements. Anyway, good luck further on!

hey !
@ Nico, yes thanks, the nek could be a little longer, but in the final pose i think it looks just ok , 'couse there's gonna be Lanier in the scene too, and Patt will listen to him, so the pose was made having that in mind.
thanks
@ hey Linh, glad too see you back and posting new and cool stuff... and glad you like my scene or at least what is for now :D

added some more details, textures and did a little matte painting on the sky. i'm trying to find some lighting solution for the scene that will make it not to dark but not to brifgter eather. so this is just a test and i think i'll do some changes on the building textures to make it feal more mechanical building.

Excellent modeling, texturing, etc., AndreiSzasz.
My only complaint is that your JPEG images seem to be heavily compressed, so a lot of details are lost in the (blurry) artifacts caused by the compression settings you're saving your JPEG's in. Maybe its the computer I'm viewing them on. I'm visiting family for the holidays so I'm not seeing the images on my highend system. I'll check again when I get home.
Great designs though. I'll be back.
Cheers,
Todd

@ Leving, thanks man !
@ Adel, thanks for the sugestion man, but this was just an ambient light render, i'm working on the key light pass now and that will add the contrast to the scene. i'll use an occlusion and a depth pass and i gues that will make the perspectiv more clear.
@ Leotril , thanks man, i did modeld a vehicle, but it was initialy a bug chopper. i did that before reading the entire book, so i've decided not to add it to the scene. beside that my characters are sitting on a platform, where a car could not ritch.
... i've started to render the final passes...and i will sone post something more close to the final image.

you have the background covered with fog and a bridge going between builidings. It would look more cool if you can reduce the fog a little and add detials of more buildings far away to create a big city look. Kind of z-depth i'm talking about. Get a Zdepth and comp it.

@ Claudio, thanks man, happy to give you this good news, good luck to you too !
@ digigkris, hey , thanks for the sugestions, i allready have a compositing test with less fog , and i think that it doesen't look so cool as the one with the more fog on it. i would liked to make the sky more visible , but the fog adds more depth to the image, so i decided that's better.About the buildings, yes it would be great to made more of them, but i've calculated to finish the scene on 15 january, soo the time wasn't enough to add more :D. And about the Z-depth, there is a depth pass i'd used, you can see it in the first "post effects and compositing" post, and is the one that makes the greanysh fog in the final image.

One of my favorite final images right here! It's the somewhat sketchy style that does it, somewhat loose like a concept painting... very cool, surprisingly Japanese rather than Romanian for some reason, a neat sense of depth and I really like the red/green combo. Jolly good job, Andrei.

I know that it's too late for me to comment, but I think that there is one thing that would help your image. I notice that there are quite a few super-dark areas. I think that these would benefit from some nice fill lighting. Even a small increase in light would help. Of course, I don't expect you to make these changes now that you are finished. :D
Anyway, good luck with the judging.

Jesus, thank man and.. yeah it's a little to late, but not your suggestion is late. i would like to do some more tweaking and modification on the buildings and some textures , and maybe compositing... but i found a bit later about the new end term of the competition, and all my renders wore done , and 90% of compositing, too. i had a lot of problems with the renders, becouse of my comp. , so i decedid to leave the image like it was on 15 january, couse i coldn't risk to rerender and recomposit it in so short time.
anyway big thanks for your siggestions and advises all along this challenge.
