Hey pretty interesting.
So this time 3D artists and 2D artists are all in the same illustration challenge.
Hmmmmm... Will be fun to see if 2D or 3D artwork wins this one :)
Gotta go read those inspiration stories before i can post a thing.
Good luck to everybody. Hope that crunch wont ruin this challenge for me.

nice to see each other for sure, should bring the artists closer together, but in the other hand i find that rather confusing

ArtisticVisions: thanx! good luck to you also :)
TheFirstAngel: confused or not.. Your first sketches look way too awesome for me!
MichaelZHsee: Thanx! Good luck man. I sure hope somebody would also say what a nice finish :D
Squibbit: Just read the damn book and go silly with eon.
johantri: Its going to be only 2D. Thanx for visiting :)
sininen: That was news to me. Hope to find it somewhere. Too bad that book is so big! Challenge will be over if i read it. So im just going to use the inspiration snippets.
MrFreeman: Thanx! Last time i failed because of the crunch! So my perfect row of finished pictures was ruined because of crunch time. I hope to remedy it with this piece. And yeah nice to see you too

After reading the book
My craft doesnt look anything like the tuberider which was detailed in the book... Tuberaider is not the same thing as V´STOL
VSTOL is this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THZkfGbN37k&mode=related&search=
Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey
Transformed to spaceflight with rockets and boosters.
Tuberaider is a common jet engine with clamps coming from the middle or something.
Attached to the singularity from the center.
I'll propably try few times and call it quits with this challenge if i cant make it happen and look cool in a day.

I should hurry and do the VTOL on the top of the tuberider and just call the picture finished..

It's looking good, and your V/STOL is right along the lines the book describes. A couple other details that you might have missed are: 1) "V" tail and 2) Forward swept wings. Otherwise it's what I imagined from reading and painting.
I think this'll be a really cool image when you're done. Good luck with it.

To what direction did the wings V shaped at? ..
The tail pieces slant upward like a "V". The outer ends of the wings with the engines sweep forward in the same direction as the nose. Don't worry about it if there isn't time, these are just details that probably won't matter overalll.
It was just a suggestion for keeping with the text, I don't mean to slow you down.
