Um okay first. I'm not a modeler. I don't do 3d at all. I'm actually just dabbing into 2d cg at a local jc, but I saw some amazing 3d stuff my classmates showed me on this site, especially some of the cars and that really inspired me. So i spent about a weeks worth of break time and some after class time to throw together a model of my car and never have i read so many tutorials in my life. well all is fine and dandy until now... i'm lost where not many tutorials can help me. you'll see most my problems by looking at the pictures. i'm using maya by the way...

1. I don't know how to render it in that smooth clay finish look with just maya... these machines at school don't have any of those rendering softwares i don't think... there's so many programs i don't even know what's what.

2. Even if I could render it I don't know how to make it smooth like nurbs. Looks like someone was resting a lot of sandbags on the hood when I smooth it. I know it lies in Hard/Soft edges and polysmooth but the tool isn't working for me... it seems to be VERY bias... 0-30 is hard and 31-179 just doesn't do anything and 180 is soft. I just dont' know a good method of getting the good creases and bends in the car while making the panels smooth.

Well this is my first car model and i'm happy i even got a shape to look like this but that's it... any help for a novice? much appreciated. =)
