Everything, specially the foreground, is way to low-res. You need more details. ok? :)

I don't think low-res is the right word. A little blurry, perhaps. But the bigger problem is the lack of focus outside; the composition is rather dull, with a castle sitting dead-center and the hills around it lacking a sort of "flow." The hills look like four or five unrelated photos pasted together, whereas a matte painting ideally has just as much compositional interest and spatial logic as a normal painting. Perhaps you could post your initial sketch(es)? That way we can figure out if the problem is in the design or in the execution. Also, I see an area at the bottom left that appears to have been clone-stamped quite a bit. Be wary of forming patterns like that.

All that being said, the color scheme is nice, as is the idea. Keep up the good work!

It's a very good start! :)

outside of the res issue, I think you should work on blending the elements together a bit more... more atmospheric perspective would help. To make the image a bit more dramatic, you could also add a light patch to the castle so that it pops out a little more and become the subject of the image ! Bringing in a bit of the sky tone to the other elements would also help evening the whole picture...

can't wait to see what you do with it !!

cheers !
