View Full Version : Gods/Demons - Character - Roach[MXF]
Roach[MXF] 03-19-2002, 12:44 PM This is my first post, I followed the previous challenge and wanted to join but was tied up in schoolwork. I started it right after I finished my finals because I am already behind as it is.
This is a concept for a monster I am planning on modeling, I am wanting to concentrate a lot on the painting aswell because that is where most of my talent lies presently... anyway this is about 2 hours of work from sketch to scan to rough paint. Tell me what you think. Thanks -Jeremy-

Nice drawing! However, you might want to read the March Challenge Official Guidlines (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3574) before you get too far into it. You can easily call it a demon, but you can't rely on textures at all for this challenge, so keep that in mind when modeling.
Looking forward to seeing it in 3D!

Thank you,
I will definitely try to make this fit the rules as well as possible. My origional idea was to make a ravenous carebear creature :) but I am in the mood to model this. Going to an art school is draining when you have to model, only not things you want to :( anyway hehe Ill go read the rules more now. -Jeremy-

I've been there, man; I feel your pain! At school you have to be creative and unique for so many projects, for so many classes, all at the same time! I was so glad to get it over with!
I think you're fine with this as long as she's a god or demon of some type. The main thing is they aren't allowing any textures on the final renders, so you'll have to model all the detail you want to show.

This is the most recent version, the lighting is incorrect in places. Tell me what you think, I cant think how to light the head correctly. Anyway I WAS going to model her..... but 3d studio max decided to be a bitch and unauthorize itself AGAIN! and thats a pain in the ass so I will only be painting this one :(
Thanks for comments they are needed, I take criticism well please do so.

Looks good! I think that the face would look a lot better if you darkened the background. That way the great lighting on her profile will pop more, instead of getting lost.
