After Effects 8? When?

I know this is kind of a lame-o question, but I don't fancy plonking down cash for AE7, and then finding out in two weeks that's a there's a new release available.

Does anyone have a sense of when After Efects 8 might be released? How long has 7 been out?

As you said yourself - this is a pretty pointless question, but rest assured, that it will take longer than two weeks for v8 to come out - much, much longer. AE 7 has been released in February/ March this year and given that there is about a 2 year cycle for most Adobe software, you can clearly see that any fears of shelving out money prematurely are unwarranted. Other than that: Update if you need a certain feature, if you don't then stick with AE 6.5 or whatever you are currently using.
