Here is my last demo reel. You will see some work I did on a canadian TV show Called Phylactere Cola (http://www.phylacterecola.com/) and also at the Ubisoft cinematic department in Montreal.

On Phylactere Cola I did everything you see, I was also actor, writer etc. (we were 8 artists doing everything to create this collection of more than 200 short movies.)

For the work at Ubisoft (the first part) it was a more collaborative work. In the shot with the Prince of Persia on a roof, I created the explosion. For the shot with light house, I did the fire and smoke. In the one with the boat I did the big fire on the bridge.

There is also a part with foam latex masks I did for Phylactere Cola, some comic books drawings, sculptures and photographs taken in Tokyo.

I used 3ds Max, Maya, XSI, Afterburn, Aura, Zbrush.

I'm currently working at Digital Dimension in Montreal, I'm NOT looking for a job, I'm just showing my demo reel to receive comments and critics please. Thanks in advance for looking!!!

some nice stuff in there and some stuff that makes me cringe a bit. If you WERE looking for work you obviously would need to focus your reel to your strengths and make it a whole lot shorter.

From an FX point of view the only thing that needs work seems to be the fire. Its way too slow. It looks nice otherwise though. Just speed it up about 300%.

Theres also some nice compositing work in the blimp sequence. It helps being black and white. I would leave out just about everything else in the second half of the reel though. It brings down the rest.

Thats all I can comment on because I'm horrible at modeling and texturing but seems like you need to focus your efforts. You're trying to do too much of everything

Hi, thanks for you critique. I think you are right. The second part is poorest technically. it was work done very fast on a crazy tv project in terms of deadlines (it was 5 years ago). Also I know it is too long. I will remove a lot for the next time I look for a job and also I'm doing better stuff at digital dimension now and as I work on movie projects, I have a lot more time to perfect things.

About refocus my effort, I'm not willing to do that! I like to touch everything even if I improve more slowly because I'm too curious and I dream of being able one day to create an entire movie alone! I'm now learning scripting and Zbrush modeling and it is too fun to stop!

I took a look at your reel on your website. You did some great stuff. I liked your tornado. I'm doing one right now and I know it's hard to do. I can not show mine for now but let's just say I'm using a mix of afterburn and maya fluids. I'll try to post it here as soon as I can.

A good looking reel. I agree with the first post comments about focusing and shortening your reel, but then so do you. There is real quality work here, and I appreciate your ambition to create your own film by yourself, and the well rounded skill set that it requires. It's a lofty ambition, but our reach should always exceed our grasp....

Thanks Burdennwoe!

I can see on your website that you already started doing your own movie yourself. That's cool!! I wish you the courage to finish it.
