View Full Version : help with edit mesh
sakuramboo 02-01-2003, 03:44 AM i need to connect the edges along the fender of the car im modeling. the model is in edit mesh with a mesh smooth on top of it. edit mesh wont allow me to connect the edges. will i have to convert it to an editable poly? if so, should i include the mesh smooth, since with the mesh smooth, itll add one line going cross the fender. or should i just add the point on the edges and connect the verts? i included a pic of it and the problem area. and heres one more question. this is the first pic ive uploaded. how can i make the pic bigger (say, 620x480) and keep it under 30 KBs? this one is at 320x240.

Little theory:
An edge is made my 2 vertices right? So, since you can't connect edges, what do you do? You have to weld the 2 vertices that makes one edge, with the other 2 vertices that make the other edge ;)

you can connect 2 edges when you have the mesh tools plug in.

Edit Poly is an easier thing to model with most of the time-- but it doesn't really matter which you use, because you can convert back and forth between them as much as you want, as long as there aren't any other modifiers involved. Just Cut your meshsmooth off, convert the object, and Paste the meshsmooth back on, and it'll still be there with the same setting as before, and you're good to go. (Unless you did some of that weird Crease editing stuff, which is generally not a great idea, especially this early in the process)
