This is my 2006 modeling reel. All models are created in 3dsmax 8 and rendered in Mental Ray. The panda and valkyrie are my own designs while the luggage is a character from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. It was originally designed by Josh Kirby and later by Paul Kidby based on Terry Pratchett's descriptions.

I graduated in 2002 from the Art Institute of Colorado in the Media Arts & Animation program(formerly Computer Animation). I decided to make this reel simple and not too flashy compared to my old graduation reel. I'm currently living in Littleton, Colorado looking for an entry level modeling position.

Your modeling skills are impressive! I really like your style. Keep it up! The only thing missing is anatomy. I think if you included a torso or some type of anatomy study, it would solidify your reel. Also, your presentation is a little bland, but that's just my opinion....Good luck!

very solid work i suggest you may want to include a small anatomy study to your reel.

the panda model is my favorite.

Thanks for the c&c's. You're right about the anatomy thing, it'd be great to have and it woul be a good modeling workout. As for the presentation, my old reel was a bit too flashy and I might've taken this one too far in the opposite direction trying to tone things down.

Awesome character design and excellent execution in modelling your ideas. What tricks did you use to model that? Anyway, kick_ss stuff for sure. Congrtas and good luck with the job hunt...

I mostly use a low-poly base mesh and use nurms to subdivide for the final result. As for tricks, it's mostly just pushing and pulling verts on a quad plane or primitive shape until I get something I like. Also, the shell modifier in 3dsmax is great for adding uniform thickness to a shape.
