Hey all-
Its me the newbie again, i've been trying out some modeling of a sketch I've done and am having some trouble. I'm following this tutorial and it says to use jpegs (while another one of my books suggests tifs). Just wondering what you that have been doing it for awhile. When I placed them as jpegs i'm getting some weird redraw every time i put a point down. What pixel dimensions and file format are most people using?

any Pixel dimension is fine, just dont use a file format that compresses the image, tif's are good, but for best compatability, use a native image format like maya's .iff
there are photo shop plug-ins that write to .iff or any other extesion.

Compression can cause problems (i.e. crashing a whole lot) so i found it is easier to just steer clear of em.

hope it helps:)

for me maya's iff format has proven to be the most reliable solution for imageplanes - everything else cripples my viewport performance - this might depend on your graphics card

and you can convert file formats with maya's fcheck
