how can i cut part of a layer with the marquee, and paste it in a new layer in the same place in photoshop. Everytime i paste its pasting it in the middle! aaaaah!

I use a workaround of:

- Duplicating the layer

- Selecting the area you want to cut

- Inversing the selection by going to - Select/Inverse

- Then press delete.. bingo!

I think CTRL+J is your friend on the windows version :)

Or Crlt+Shift+J = Cut and Paste as new layer
