View Full Version : MacPro with BootCamp Experiences?
Hi Forum,
I recently got my new MacPro 2.66 with Ati 1900XT. I installed BootCamp and XP and everything worked fine. Cinebench produces some very nice results. Strange enough that rendering is faster in OSX and shading is faster using XP. But since I installed the Apple Drivers, XP crashes on every shutdown, which bothers me. I think that some of the drivers aren't that compatible. Some google searching tought me that these shut down issues are very common with XP and often are due to driver conflicts. Has anyone expreriences with the Mac Pro and Cinema under XP? I would be glad to hear about your tries.
Thanx in advance, cheers mnu

Hi lllab,
do you have the same configuration as I do? If so, very strange. I don't have any crashes either while working under XP, but if I shut the system down it doesn't put the computer off but restarts. That is because XP restarts as soon as a crash occurs. Turning this behaviour off shows the crash screen.
This doesn't make the computer unusable under XP but is a little annoying. I did nothing but insalling XP SP2 (no crashes) and the BootCamp drivers (now it crashes).

i did not have a single crash on this machine since it runs.

No crashes here--also using the nVidia card. In fact, this machine hasn't crashed once in either OSX or XP (which I use 95% of the time).

...yes the macpro is extremly stable. in both os's.
never crashed here too...
maybe some kind of oversight or bad ati drivers?
cheers
stefan
Hi again,
what I encountered is that it won't crash if I first log off and then shut down. When shutting down directly it crashes on a regular basis. Other users reported this, too in the InsanelyMac forum. Strange that your systems don't show this behaviour.
