Hi all
This will likely be a very slowly updated WIP thread compared to most, but this time I wanted to be involved in the community from start to finish. My last painting had an unintentional Michael Whelan feel to it; this one is my homage to both Whelan and Anne McCaffrey's Pern. A bittersweet image of a dragon and his rider, at peace with their coming end, wanting to fly one last time...
I have made a concious decision to only use photoshop for the most basic layer operations, everything else will be in painter - I want to be able to see all the brushmarks. Below are my original pencil sketch and a first thought as to composition and color scheme. Comments are most welcome.
