Hi all :)

Don't be afraid - I'll not ask for tutorials and stuff, I
just need a suggestion :)

I'm testing around with UV Mapping because I have to texture
my CGChallenge entry and I've never really worked with UV Layouts
etc before.
I've read several tutorials (thanks for the sticky thread, helped a lot ;))
but now I'm somehow stuck and don't know which way to turn.

Way 1.) People like Leigh tell us: Automatic Mapping (it's called Atlas in LW) is
BAD! BAAAD! Stay away! Messy peaces - noone wants to do that!
Stick with planar projections and blend or hide the seams somehow.

or Way 2.)
Some friends of mine tell me everyday: Fae! Just stick with the automatic maopping
thing - after you've cleaned up the mess it's beautifull texturing and you won't
regret it.

Ok - where's the problem here? If dumb-lil-Fae wants to do the puzzle thingie
let him do it.
Unfortunately there's a bad thing: time!
It's mean and like to run fast and once you've looked just a second away it's
gone and the challenge is over or I'm grey and old *G*
What I want to say with this - I don't want to do this thing over and over again
and everytime experience "oh nice - this wasn't the good way... another start it'll be then.."
I know that this is all about testing/trial & error but I've done that enough
with the modelling of the char.

So....if someone has got 2mins and would like to give me a hint, a suggestion
oder something like "Hey - I would use this because..." I would be very glad. :)
Meanwhile I'm going to do more tests.

Cheers

PS: If you want to know what I try to texture, look here: The picture (http://web336.basicbox2.server-home.net/faeroon/html/images/fullres/wip/beasts/yeshtar-wip6.jpg)
Unfortunately the entire breast/arm area is one object - should i split? That
are those question I'm trying to figure out right now.
