View Full Version : an Ancient Wall...
Jassar 09-23-2006, 09:53 AM Hi, I made this image with Blender, Photoshop and ZBrush just for the calligraphy on the dome:)
I tried to make an ancient looking wall....simple idea with a strange camera angle to give it some action:wise:
I hope you like it, any C&C are welcome

hey guy, like your idea :)
I especially like the nice texure for the wall.
The thing I would improve would be the background, give him more deapness, in my oppinion, the pic looses much of its spirit, the background image makes it look so cutted.
But all in all nice artwork :)

Have you made a bump map for the wall?
That texture pattern is from a wall that has a lot of relief. The blocks bulge out. When it is applied as just a flat texture it looks strange.
Perhaps a bump map would help, but even so when you focus in so close and highlight the corner of the wall that has none of the profile the texture suggests should be there, the illusion is reduced.

Hey j0llyr0ger! thanks for passing by.
No I have not used any bump maps, since this is a small wall with not so many stone bricks that's what I did:
I assigned a wall picture as a texture ( using the repeat option helped alote ) , turned the COL and NOR buttons on, and then played with the plane mesh and made a few bumps by hand ( not a good idea for bigger models! )...
adjusting the colors was done in Photoshop..
Cheers!
