I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but there is an animation included here. Aside from other 2-D work.
I've been fortunate enough to work on some music videos while in New York. And I've been doing a spec music video for the Decemberists with my friend Daniel Oeffinger (http://www.oeffinger.com/). We both directed it and here are some of the mattes from it:
Watch the video here (http://www.oeffinger.com/laimyours).

This is a wide matte of the city of Los Angeles stylized in our world.

Opening shot of the video. There were 3-D elements added in the final.

This is the Santa Monica Pier. It was changed a good bit in the final shot. The texture was replaced and another set of clouds I painted were comped in.

The gate shot into Los Angeles. A 3-D torn cloth was added into the final shot.
Again, check out the video at here (http://www.oeffinger.com/laimyours).
Character design done by: Brandon Page (http://www.brandonpageillustrator.com/)
Additional characters by: Nic*Rad (http://www.nic-rad.com)
Character Animation by: Matt Pennetti (http://www.mattpennetti.com/)
Tower Model by: Dan Fine (http://www.danjfine.com/)
Directed by Myself and Daniel Oeffinger (http://www.oeffinger.com)
Next up, some mattes I did for a music video for a band called Nightmare of You and the song title is "My Name is Trouble." The video is going to be released soon.

The sketch preceeding the matte. Most people like this more than the matte. :\

The final matte. My Portable HD got dropped recently so I lost the layered file of this (along with every other High res file I had in the past year) but it was around 200-250 layers I believe for lights-on and lights-off total.
Next is another music video done for Fear Before the March of Flames for the song "Taking Cassandra to the End of the World Party" directed by my friend David Bell (http://www.davidbellstudio.com). This video had around 12-13 unique mattes painted (I say unique because a lot were re-used) and here are a couple before and afters. This video is also yet to be released.
